CONFESSIN' (That I Love You)

 Malika Alaoui was born in Lausanne (CH) of a Swiss mother and a Moroccan father. She is singer/musician/composer and stage performer with a strong background in dance and theatre. Malika trained at a music school near Avignon (F) and since 2001 Malika has been composing and performing in several experimental music projects that have showcased in theaters, clubs, concerts halls and international festivals. 

In 2007, Malika joined Cirque du Soleil singing the lead role in  "Alegria", one of the most successful productions ever staged. Malika sang the role of ‘White/ Black’ singer for 4 years as the large-scale production toured 6 Continents around the world. 

Malika’s diverse and eclectic style in music encompasses Trip hop, ethnic and contemporary music to jazz and gypsy music. A regular collaborator with musicians and composers like Stuart Hamm who invited her to sing on his album,  “Just ouside of normal”. Malika also sang with Robert Fripp on the song “Lucidity”. She has further worked with the accordonist Lidia Kaminska and composer Dominique Lièvre. 

Based in Berlin since 2012, Malika plays with musicians from the Berlin Jazz Scene. Malika also regularly tutors private sessions as by invitation from Robin de Haas has been directing workshops for singers that focus on ‘vocal expression and stage craft’ in Berlin (DE), and in Lausanne (CH). 

Malika is currently creating a personal project of world'songs that features original compositions, vocal incantations and improvisations titled “NOW”. It is expected to be released 16.11.2016. Working together with the electroacoustic project « Schattenspiel Live» (composer /music producer: Paul David Hechausen and director : Moritz Lohmann), Malika is researching the composition, arrangement and improvisation of acoustic instruments within eletronic music. Malika’s main focus is to bring together the natural character of acoustic instruments with the driving energy of electronic dance music, reinforced by a strongly dramatised audiovisual show.
