Composer and sound artist Noémi Büchi creates electronic, symphonic maximalism. Her music is defined by a delicate synthesis of textural rhythms and electroacoustic-orchestral abstraction.
She explores the potential of consonance and dissonance, contrasts rhythmic physicality with disruption and playfully emphasizes irregularities, creating an expansive listening experience marked by detail and elevation.

“Art, directly or indirectly, is the expression of a conscious or unconscious metaphysical concern, and this is what makes it both valuable and depreciable, indispensable and superfluous. Its content is in this sense unclassifiable - whereas in today's world everything is classified, evaluated and rated. We live in paradoxical societies, of anxiety, of occult forces and at the same time of ingenuity and aesthetic brilliance. In parallel with societal movements that refuse or question classical models, such as those of gender, patriarchy and social categories, art today is retreating from normative ideas and feeding on a new rational and moral freshness.”

Camille Altay is an artist across multiple mediums. Though identified primarily as a painter, they came up as a DJ in the rave scene in Chicago in the late 90s. An original member of Birds of Prey (Kathexis Records, Mysteries of the Deep) and current collaborator with LA artist Israel Vines with a forthcoming release on Tresor, Camille’s also been building a house—quite literally. I have believed for many years there’s nothing Camille can’t do with exceptional grace and skill. And how does one aspire to set the tone for their day? “My approach to sound and music is interwoven with the practice of art, and it becomes about trying my best, in small ways each day, to be mindful of what I listen to, in order that I might create a condition for this calling-in of inspiration.” Enjoy the two-hour ride.
