disappearing - The Shell, Decayed (EXCERPT)

In collaboration with the Surface Tension collective, Infinite Beat Ambient created an after hours audio, visual and olfactory experience. Live performances by Bleie, Brooke Keller (odi me, Gayphextwin) and Roche. 

This live ambient DJ set was inspired by my favorite San Francisco artist and Infinite Beat collaborator, Paul Clipson, which featured a  few selections of music that he shared with me and some music that I had the honor of sharing with him. It was meant to play like a film soundtrack.

This mix is dedicated to Paul Clipson, his family and our local film/arts/music community in San Francisco.

Big Debbie was originally based in San Francisco, CA in 2012 by Sergey Yashenko, strictly as a bedroom recording project. Within a year these 4 track recordings surfaced in a form of limited cassette and vinyl releases on such labels as Cochon, Teen Action and Danish Skrot Up. Midheaven Disitribution described the release as "Driving drum machine beats and repetitive fuzzed out, sludgy bass lines with some tape manipulated vocals that croon, whisper and growl mostly in English. Foggy, hypnotic, haunting and dancy at times, the music carries a strong 80's influence."

Within the next couple years, Debbie moved to Los Angeles, venturing out on several tours across U.S., Europe and Russia. Mostly as a solo act, she would occasionally team up with guest performers/friends such as Terror Apart, Future Blondes, Gay Orphans, Ciriza and Moscow's A.W.O.T.T. Eventually the name was changed to Big Debbie and a full length, perfectly captures the transition from bedroom to stage.

"AB-RA-CA-DEB-RA" - the sophomore album by Big Debbie brings to mind religious pagan celebrations as much as the 1980's industrial, goethe clubs, with subtle nods to Chris & Cosey, DAF, Einstürzende Neubauten, and so much more it’s own sound. Big, sexy noise you can move to! “AB RA CA DEB RA” saw a cassette release on Ratskin in early 2015 and sold out within a month of it’s release and has been re edited and remastered for LP, and we couldn’t be happier to release this into the world just in n time for BIG DEBBIE’s European tour in support of the record.

I am invisible
I am invisible I am free from the pressure of being special I welcome the potential of being mediocre I welcome the likeliness of remaining anonymous many people will never know that I exist it is enough to be myself to have myself as an audience

Sensuality
Sensuality is a moment captured in a picture I know it when I see it when I'm looking at myself I know it when I see it I'm feeling it does it look like I'm feeling it? Will you tell me if it looks like I'm feeling it?

A debt
I hurt someone so badly and now that I have I'm reminded of the people who have hurt me at the times that they did it was impossible to forgive it wasn't time for forgiveness but now it is I collect the resentment that is owed to me I close my eyes to find instructions to retrace mistakes that should not be repeated I close my eyes and see the one I've hurt successful, assurred, adored and supported

Our Head is Not Our House
If you asked my ghost what it thinks it would tell you that it made a mistake that it never should have chosen such a constrained vessel it stays up high always trying to find an exist it needs more space I need us to be integrated we are so crowded we think our head is our house

Research Stage of Love
I haven't been held in a while I'm needier now than I was last Spring my imagination has chosen a lover my hopes are too high I still let the feeling come when my hopes get too low I trust I'll let the feeling go I'm in the research stage of love assessing what is possible the potential for lasting affection is as great as the potential for crushing rejection my heart is so gullible ignorant and vulnerable and although I'm aware of the risk I'm commitment to following it trying my best to give into it I'm committed to my heart

As If
Waiting as if you should know waiting as if you should already know what my heart has decided for us there's something in here that I want to place outside of myself draw it out like bathwater write it out in a letter maybe I won't even send it maybe I will and it won't even be wanted lightning bolt! I'm jolted I feel like I'm living in a timeline in a future in which you're mine
