As 2023 draws to a close, we're happy to share one of our favourite sets of the year from October's Astral Circus Saturday Session, where we opened the party and warmed up the decks for one of our fav producers, ShankaraNZ/Weka Tek. The relaunch of the Astral Circus mothership was definitely one of our highlights of the year and we're already looking forward to the next edition on 23rd March at StarLane Pizza Bar.

Amaluna @Astral Circus 2023

My unexpected 90 minute set at the Tree House Stage this year at Noisily Festival.  Includes a tribute to my sisters Kristin and Lauren whose birthday it was that day!  

I feel so honoured to have been part of one of the best lineups I have seen in a very long time, if not the best ever!  What an amazing weekend!  Big ups Bassport FM and the Noisily Festival organisers for having me play and massive shouts to the rest of the Bassport crew at the Bass Lab. Our set at Anthropos Festival's Earth Temple for the awesome Earthdance London Online Event 2020 - Co-Manifestival. Having been massive fans of Earthdance London for many years, it was an absolute honour to be part of this amazing online event and very fitting that it was the source of inspiration for us to produce our first post-lockdown mix.

Big thanks to everyone at Earthdance & Anthropos Festival for an incredible event and to the artists of the tracks we played for their epic tunes. There's so much great music around at the moment, the hardest part was choosing what we could fit into our hour-long set! We've called it 'Lockdown Delights' as it's a follow-up to our 'Downtempo Delights' mix, plus there's a bit of a lockdown theme going on in some of the tracks.

BIOGRAPHY:
Małpka was born and raised in Africa and classically trained at the age of 7. She left her home in Zimbabwe in 2000 to explore other arenas.  Time spent in Australia and South Africa led to an evolution in her appreciation of big band jazz and bouncing brass to crazy psychedelic trance and dusty stomping grounds.
Her love for the emerging electronic genres saw her moving to the UK in 2006 for a more complete musical immersion. After reaching saturation point on almost every dance floor imaginable, and it didn't take long; 'Mudstompin Munkee' was born, which would later evolve to the alias Małpka.

Guest appearances on radio and DJ performances in London took off instantly, creating huge success opportunities for this DJ and upcoming Producer; slamming sets from the right side of the decks, now hosting her own radio show on Bassport FM - The Mudstompin Menagerie - and performing at events and festivals across the UK and Europe.

With an ear for filthy frequencies, funky melodies and banging bass lines, Małpka remains undefined by genre, concerned only with one factor, the Stomp; and the pulse of the crowd.  Her natural flair for diversity certainly sets her apart from the other wild animals in the zoo.  Expect anything in the mix from Downtempo to Full on, Glitch Hop to Ghetto Funk, Psytrance to Drum n Bass, Afro House to Electro Swing.
