Radio On Vacation With Fabrizio Mammarella

There were some landscapes that simply took your breath away; the kind that made you feel like a tiny speck on this thing we call planet earth. The canyon below was a sight to behold, its huge stone surfaces coated in tones of copper and green. If you squinted hard enough you could trace clusters of tiny humans exploring the winding paths, tunnels and bridges that littered the expanse. It felt somewhat magical or metaphysical; a natural wonder of the world...

It's been almost a decade since Italian producers Rodion and Fabrizio Mammarella teamed up for a collaborative EP on the latter's Slow Motion imprint. Like their first outing, Apennini, back in 2012 this new release proves yet again why these two are a perfect production pairing, fusing their shared love of synthesized melodies and machine-driven funk and disco. The duo continue this across their Sierra Madre EP, which was recorded in Mexico City with a guest appearance from Roam Records and Duro alumni Mijo, and backed by a rework from Italo-Belgian duo Front De Cadeaux.

The nomadic life was all they knew, for as long as they could remember they'd moved from place to place, with one eye constantly looking over their shoulder. In this day and age it was impossible to remain undercover; to don a new identity and pitch up somewhere for an extended period of time. No matter where they went, what buses, trains or planes they boarded, eventually they'd be tracked down and there was no knowing what would happen then...

After welcoming PCL to Slow Motion's Wrong Era off shoot back in June, label boss Fabrizio Mammarella makes his return to the parent imprint arm-in-arm with Italian retro-futurist producer Bottin for a brand new project: EYE-BM. The pair were jamming at CIMM studios when the release came to be; it's a melting pot of their combined musical passions. Backed by a remix from Italian synth wave icon Alexander Robotnick, the EP features three original tracks to get your body moving, which blend EBM, electro, Italo disco, cyberpunk and new beat.

BIS Radio Show #905 with Fabrizio Mammarella

The next 12 incher on Wrong Era is made by Marching Machines, a duo made of two Belgian powerhouses: Dimitri Andreas and Spacid. Their love for electronic machine manipulation and their musical history that spans over 2 decades, built an excellent foundation for this brand new project. “Lonesome” is a slow burning dark electro track with howling and gloomy synths that flow into acidic tendencies. “Desolat” continues on the emotional path of the previous track, embracing solitude on a broken rhythm, ending up in arpeggiating classic and cosmic italo track. In succession of that, there’s “Driven” which moves up to dancefloor dynamics by using harder and raw sounds, combined with an analogue pulsewave sound generator and building into a release of energy with wavy synths and smashing snares. The final track is a remix of “Lonesome” by one of Wrong Era’s label bosses Fabrizio Mamarella. While the original idea is still intact, the remix is a definite bigger and faster version, implying a stark contrast that still remains powerful, perfectly made for the dancefloor.

Fabrizio Mammarella is an Italian selector, producer and label owner among many other things in the world of Music. 
Boasting a discography that includes dozens of clubbing anthems, remixes, as well as successful collaborations with Lauer (as Black Spuma), Rodion, and Clap Rules; he is also the “one man band” in Telespazio, an infamous side project focusing more on experimental music.

Since his first release in 2004, Fabrizio has been constantly delivering hits for labels such as DFA, Permanent Vacation, Correspondant, Les Disques De La Mort, Future Boogie and his own imprint Slow Motion Music / Wrong Era records, leading the Italian Dance Wave movement for over ten years. 
Fabrizio is also the head behind Emet, a record label centred on limited special releases crawling in the realm of weirdo electronic music, especially cut for the quirkiest and demanding dancefloors.

Fabrizio has played and hosted label nights at some of the best clubs and festivals around the globe, with regular nights in Berlin and his home country of Italy. He is definitely not moving in slow motion.
