Written by band members Dolores O'Riordan and Noel Hogan, and produced by Stephen Street, "Linger" was first released as the second and final single from the album on 15 February 1993 by Island Records. It was later re-released on 31 January 1994.

My sound is appealing to me, but I can't structure the sounds in a good order. Like ocean waves. If it was at least like the waves of a lake or river, I'd be able to structure my music as tasteful waves of sound.
