Bosnian raised, Swedish resident Sev Dah is our 198th guest of our podcast series. His artistic alias originates in the traditional Bosnian 'Sevdah' songs. This music often has melancholic and introspective themes such as love, loss and longing.



In his musical project, Sev Dah also has a strong focus on combining emotional elements into techno, often creating a melancholic or dystopian atmosphere. This

His many releases on labels such as Mote-Evolver, KSR, Gynoid Audio and his own label Proletarijat clearly showcase this.

He has a comparable approach in his sets, where he sometimes layers emotional vocals onto deep driving techno cuts.

Vault Sessions #198 - Sev Dah

Andy Martin (@andy-martin) is one of my favourite musical discoveries from the last few years. A while back, after hearing an iconic tune he made called "Revolution" featuring Lee Scratch Perry, I was excited about his music, and also learning more about him as an artist. Andy is based in Guadalajara, Mexico, with Jamaican and Mexican roots.

Whilst I was touring Mexico, we shared a few gigs together, and all the locals referred to him as "the best in the country", which I can completely understand. Since discovering Andy's music I've been hooked on his productions, an incredible fuse of old school and new school dub techno, underpinned by influences from his heritage which flourish in the form of exciting percussion & unique, emotional melodies. 

On top of this, Andy is very humble, and  a very talented DJ, and I'm super happy to host him in the series.

Hailing from Amsterdam, DJ, producer Vromo is an emerging talent, making a name for himself with his fierce groovy sounds. Drawing inspiration from old-school Techno of the 1990s and early 2000s, Vromo’s style transcends a single genre, often infusing elements of Ghetto and House in to his sets. In 2023, Vromo became an ANTIDOTE resident, regularly performing at their events and contributing to ANTIDOTE’s 2023 VA release. Vromo has taken his sound to cities across Europe, having played in cities such as Berlin, Austria and Dublin. 

Vromo’s productions are raw, high-intensity and timeless in their sound. This driving mix has an analogue feel, with complex rhythms and dark synths. 

Get ready for a gripping hour and a half of Vromo, recorded live at Radion, Amsterdam.

Under his pen name Chlär, Charles Accarisi sets forth with a full rig manifestation of techno that jolts from one trunk-rattler to the next. From his native Switzerland to his adoptive home Berlin, the potency of his sound has followed him and grown ever larger, an assertive strain of dyed-in-the-wool techno that’s groovy and layered as a mountain rock. Working over and above his standard DJ duties, across A&R, events and sound engineering, Chlär practices full-involvement in much of the music pipeline, starting with his own sound and that of new finds and ending with the music’s final dialogue in public space. He’s been keeping busy, and as half of Funk Assault, co-runner of Bipolar Disorder Rec and founder of Primal Instinct his plate’s more than full, but his just-released first full album on the latter label shows little signs he’s tiring. The Architects of Shadows explores current political and sociological themes as broad as nationalism and social atomisation, rifts that through his many roles in music, he’s working hard to bridge. The promise of that newly connected world comes alive through the primacy of his beats, looping, packed with meaning but immediate nonetheless. Bassiani Podcast 248 is an hour and a half of dizzying basslines and all encompassing loops that bear witness to Chlär’s undeniable skill as techno selector. These are future-ready beats from a techno polymath.

Viennese DJ/Producer Alpha Tracks is best-known as a fleet-footed champion for contemporary neo-trance. Where others to the north of the genre’s beginnings are breathing new life into the musical style, Felix Benedikt holds down the fort in the east, deriving his intrinsic link to its forms from the early millennium record-digging. With releases on imprints like Blue Hour, Ute.Rec., his very own Morbid and newly pressed <AIR WAYS> bristling with scrappy basslines, the shape of his mission is sharp in focus, a revival and reconfiguration of those 90s sounds into something modern and loaded with relevance. Striking parallels with the speed of data in our modern landscape could be made with trance’s newfound acceptance, but for Felix it’s something inherently felt. Zenaari Mix 017 - Alpha Tracks

We're back for the #57th episode of our Schimmer podcast series with Sev Dah.

Berlin, Detroit, Birmingham and, of course, Sarajevo.
Bosnian-built and -bred Sev Dah may be a Swedish expat, but the Balkan blackness clings strongly to the bleak percussions and rigidly uneasy synthetics that unwillingly fuse into his strongly individual take on techno. Authentically purveying the pulsations of the nakedly throbbing and ugly world, far away from Starbucks and H&M. 


Signed to respected labels such as Random Island, Mote-Evolver and Kaiser's KSR, he quickly gnawed his way into the scene’s core of DJs and producers. Sev is even managing new projects on his own label Proletarijat since 2016. Like a rabid mongrel, since 1998 he has been chewing and belching new bastard beats that are aching to scream out. Consequently there’s a steaming and steady stream of vinyl releases coming.


With influences ranging from Stigmata and Mills to Master Reese and Petar Dundov, Sev Dah is a versatile but headstrong DJ that can gently ease a thumb in at midnight or fervently thrust it down the hatch at peak time.

The Belgian artist Man Outta Space has been playing music since 2005. His sets can be described as energetic Techno with spacey elements which bring constant tension to the dance floor. As a former resident of one of Belgium's longest-running clubs, Decadance, he developed his mixing skills through long marathon sets. This heavy track digger is always on the hunt to find that hidden gem in the record bin. This is also noticed in the carefully selected lineups of his event “Wir Tanzen.” There he invited highly respected acts like Dax J, Stef Mendesidis, Paula Temple, Lucy, Fjaak, Pariah, Florian Meindl, Lucy, Exium, Keith Carnal, … Man Outta Space is constantly developing his sound, combining old with new, so you never know what's coming next.
