Introducing our next Sister of Sound - ANASTASIA

Anastasia’s passion for DJing and music production sparked from being an active member of the Red Moon Tribe and Northside dance community for the past 4 years. Upon embarking on her music journey, Anastasia has showcased her unique curation of sounds at various underground bush doofs and private gatherings over the past year. After performing sets at various larger gatherings early this year including ‘Dawn Light’ and the ‘Re:connection NY Gathering’, where she had the incredible honour of playing the midnight opening set of 2022, Anastasia has made an official entrance into the Melbourne event scene with her debut Red Moon set at Crescent Moon Gathering last weekend. 

Inspired by a combination of raw, driving European techno and the earthy, organic Australian bush sounds that we love so much, Anastasia brings this unique blend into her sets, creating a hypnotic journey filled with rich melodies and dark basslines.

Sister Sessions - ANASTASIA

During my last tour in 2019 of Europe I was invited to play live on East Side Radio: a rogue, underground local community radio station set up inside some shipping containers in the middle of a Portuguese ex-military complex, soon to be redeveloped into Lisbon's largest creative hub.

I have just stumbled across the recording from my set that day and thought that it would be great to upload and share. The mix starts at a humble 116bpm and glides through to the early 120's.

Looking forward to getting back over that side of the globe and reuniting with all of my friends. It's been way too long! <3

Handsdown of the duo Handsdown & Leigh Boy has a musical journey spanning over a decade, throwing parties of all sorts and delivering an uncompromising plethora of progressive and emotive minimal & techno to dance floors right around the globe. 

Spearheading the Euphorie Bezirk brand, parent to the notoriously debaucherous Disco 2000 party series and festival favourites - the duo have recently brought the pairs signature sound to Rainbow Serpent Festival, Picnic Electronik, Strawberry Fields, Elrow, Babylon Festival, Elements , Subsonic, The Petting Zoo, The Pleasure Garden, Paradigm Festival, Esoteric, Carl Coxʼs PURE as well as residency at the fabled Tramp Bar for nearly 10 years.

After another huge festival seasons in oz and successes from their record label Euphorie Bezirk which has had its first 5 releases in the Beatport charts + a number one, the duo set their sights on a big year in the studio - with several charting releases of their own on their imprint as well as established European labels such as Dense Audio, Alula Tunes, Techgnosis, and Alpakka, all the while writing music for a fresh set list all original for 2022 - with some huge releases on the horizon including a debut EP on the legendary Ibogatech.

In September, I was fortunate enough to close up the Red Moon Renegade 5th Birthday Unce. Here's the recording. 

This set was a true testament to my craft as a DJ. My intention was to captivate the crowd, keep the energy fun so anyone thinking of going home, would be drawn right back to the music. 
I was so gee'd up, especially having the god damn crew rockin it at the front from start to finish.

Beyond Esoteric, Mana Fest has shared the spotlight with international luminaries such as Jacob from Brazil, Matan Caspi from Israel, Kander from the UK, and Amrtum from Berlin. These collaborations have woven a tapestry of global sounds that define his eclectic style. He is also a proud member of crews such as Pirainia and Sickest House Mafia. 

In 2024, he founded Terrestrial Events, an event company set to transform the scene—not only by curating incredible nights but by ensuring fair support for DJs and working with charities like White Ribbon Australia to drive social change. 

A longtime supporter of festival and doof culture, Mana Fest is often found volunteering to build stages and helping set up at various events. For him, it’s more than just a job — it’s a passion.

Yet, beyond the music, Mana Fest dons a mask that has become more than mere attire. It’s a symbol of artistic expression, a metaphorical canvas through which he paints his emotions and stories. The mask becomes a persona, blurring the line between the artist and the art itself. 

In a world where music is the universal language, Mana Fest loves orchestrating a symphony of beats and melodies that transcend boundaries, inviting all to join him on a sonic voyage.
