I wrote "The Sinner" after the terror attacks in Vienna. Often, the song came to me in a dream — the night before, I had read an article written by the sister of one of the victims. She asked for understanding for the man who took her sister’s life, and it made me reflect deeply on how sometimes life puts people in unbearable situations.

I believe that if he could have chosen differently, he would have — but circumstances, pain, and forces beyond us sometimes lead to the inevitable. This song is my attempt to reach into the seemingly incomprehensible, to understand how brokenness and sorrow can shape a person’s path.

More than that, I believe it calls on all of us to look inward and ask: How have we, as a collective consciousness, contributed to this reality? How can we change the story moving forward?
