The third edition of our Berlin Ear Guard Radio Show comes from Jay Starborough @starborough-1.

He has been a staple of the Westcoast Sound scene in the Netherlands for nearly 20 years, surrounded by institutions like the Cybernetic Broadcasting System and IntergalacticFM. He has organized parties, hosted radio shows, and operated the Radio Galaxia channel for IntergalacticFM.

With his extensive selection of classic house, electro, and disco tracks, he has filled floors in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Dordrecht. Online, he has played for Rotterdam's Operator Radio, Amsterdam's Red Light Radio, Nijmegen's Radio NUL, and most importantly, for IntergalacticFM.

Starborough's carefully curated DJ sets blend the groove of soul and funk with the mechanical force of house and electro, seasoned with a dash of Italian melancholy.

We are thrilled that he has found the time to record a set for the Berlin Ear Guard radio show.

For over twenty years, Sneaker has been on a mission to uncover the roots of electronic music. Whether as a producer or DJ, Sneaker approaches his craft with precision and thoughtfulness. He loves music that conveys atmosphere and a sense of life, often in a parodying way that doesn't take itself too seriously. Early on, he fell for Detroit and Chicago, but it’s the obscure Italo, new wave, and minimal synth gems that give his sets and Dunkeltier edits their unique touch and add that edgy Sneaker flavor to his productions.

MARCUS PAULSON [aka. Kid Machine] - Berlin Ear Guard radio show #5

We are very excited to have Remasuri join us for the sixth edition of the Berlin Ear Guard Radio Show. For over 25 years, REMASURI has been active as a Drum & Bass DJ, making him one of the true pioneers of Leipzig's drum and bass scene. However, his deep involvement with music of all kinds began long before his first DJ attempts in 1998. He had long been drawn to the diverse sounds of dub, hip hop, techno, and indie. Initially, he couldn't quite share the 1990s wave of enthusiasm for jungle music. It wasn’t until the sound evolved into Drum & Bass that this genre became highly interesting to him, as Drum & Bass turned into a melting pot where various music styles—from techno and house to rock—fused into something new.

Remasuri’s first public performances took place in 1999 at venues like Moritzbastei, Kosmophon, and Conne Island in Leipzig. Soon after, he began collaborating with Dreas, which eventually led to the creation of the Rolling Sounds Crew and the launch of the event series "Crowd Control." This series saw local talents as well as internationally renowned guests like DJ Storm, London Elektricity, Cyantific, Brookes Brothers, D.Kay, Kabuki, Jenna G., and Bassface Sascha turn the dance floor into a bubbling cauldron of energy.

From 2010 to 2014, Remasuri worked as a booker at Leipzig’s SWEAT! club, where he got to know many new DJs. Inspired by their music, which often diverged from Drum & Bass, he began to explore new musical paths himself. Currently, he enjoys spinning a blend of space disco, Italo, and house—a fusion reminiscent of Kraftwerk, Miami Vice, and Bladerunner. His motto is to avoid being tied to just one genre, mixing things up in a colorful way while ensuring a coherent flow. The result is a high-energy mix of long-forgotten classics and the latest material.

REMASURI - Berlin Ear Guard radio show #6

The 7th edition of the Berlin Ear Guard Radio Show features Rik Elmont with a deep, grooving, and fluffy house set.

Rik Elmont has been DJing since the mid-90s. As a teenager, he discovered electronic music by first listening to the omnipresent rave tracks on music television and radio shows. He was quickly drawn to the groovier, funkier, and more melodic sides of electronic music. House music felt like home to him, and he developed a strong interest in connecting with the scene and presenting his own vision of sound.

Living in a small city in the middle of Saxony, there were no parties around. One had to drive to bigger cities to spend the night in a good club instead of a shabby discotheque. The idea arose to change this by founding a club in his hometown. So, he joined forces with a group of friends who then turned an old factory into a club called Rohtabak. This venue immediately gained a good reputation in the region. After six years, in 2006, the crew decided to split up and close the club due to different interests and intentions.

During this time, Rik met the humble guys of Nachtdigital. He felt a deep connection by sharing a similar vision. So, he joined the crew and, to this day, he is an integral part of the festival. Although he is responsible for the bars, he still enjoys playing house music.

With this mix, Rik Elmont takes you on a deep journey, blending pleasing vocal tracks with groovy ones. So, enjoy the ride.

His sets between turntablism and beat match expertise, mindful of his flowing together in the great Floor formula style horizons are no more regional phenomenon. DJ FILBURT - Berlin Ear Guard radio show #8

Mancha Recordings enlist DJ Overdose to serve up a standout new tune that then gets remixed by Rik Elmont, Filburt and Back For Good to make for another great EP.

Dutchman DJ Overdose is a cult figure with a fine discography and improves it again here with Bring Me. It is a lo fi bit of raw, hard hitting deep house. Clacking hits, muffled bass and obscured synths all take you into a late might world of weirdness. The first remix from Rik Elmont turns it into a more loose limbed and dubbed out house cut, while Filburt keeps it low key, with gorgeous ambient pads, classic vocal samples buried deep in the mix and gorgeous keys. Lastly, Back For Good keeps it deep with musical bass and heart tugging vocal loops over the top of rickety drums. 

This is a tasteful EP of innovative deep house.

After his turn it down music debut "back in flight", this is the second release from Manchester-based Kid Machine. In keeping with the season, the opener track is called "Iceman". On the B - side the track "Strange Lands" awaits the inclined listener with fresh retro electro with an Italo disco touch.

We present the theme "Iceman", a movie track that will help bodies relax and travel until they lose themselves in the immensity of sounds. As captivating as it is elegant, track with the perfect amount of substance, it is presented with a powerful style that ranges from classic to innovative. Enjoy!
