Behold, a 60 minute excerpt from my 90 minute warm-up set for Jody Wisternoff at Joshua Brooks, Manchester, on October 8th 2022. 

I had just bought the Tascam DR-05X that same day as I have always wanted to record mixes with crowd noise. Unfortunately, I don't think I set it up correctly at all as the recording seems to have all come from just the mics and not the line-in directly from the mixer, so I have uploaded the hour that sounds just about listenable. 

I'm really gutted about it as it was such an amazing night and I really enjoyed my set, and I think others did too as you will hear when you hear people shouting my name in parts. Asch Pintura B2B Redfeya and then Jody Wisternoff were just amazing and it's a night I will never forget.

I will learn from it anyway and I've heard other mixes uploaded from much bigger names than Manchild with similar sound quality so I know I'm not alone. I know it sounded mint on the night and I will learn from it for next time.

Manchild AKA Daz 'Manchild' Smith is a Greater Manchester based DJ with house music in all its various guises flowing through his veins. Born and bred in Oldham, he has been hooked on music from the moment his Mum squirted him out and his style is almost impossible to pigeon hole due to him playing what he wants. Comfortable playing any time; whether that be warmup, peak, closing time or sexy time, all the Manchild cares about is that the crowd have the most untold time. 

After only getting back into DJing in mid-2019, he fell back in love with the more progressive sound all over again in late 2019 and rather quickly became resident of Manchester brand 'Up Close and Personal Mcr'. Whilst also heavily indulging in breaks, melodic techno, indie dance, house, trance, power ballads and more, Manchild's versatility allows him to flit seamlessly between all of the above. 

Since late 2019 he has shared lineups with the likes of James Zabiela, Cristoph, Anthony Pappa, Jody Wisternoff (numerous times), Marsh, Cosmic Gate, Grum, John 00 Fleming, Richie Blacker, Mr Sosa, Estiva, My Friend, Fehrplay, Marcus James (Renaissance), Dave Pearce, Diode Eins, Tommy Farrow, John Kelly, Dave Beer, Asch Pintura, Redfreya and many more at venues such as London's Ministry of Sound, EGG, the Steel Yard; Manchester's Stage & Radio and various appearances at Joshua Brooks'. 

Already in early 2023 he has supported and handed the decks to technical wizard James Zabiela at Mains Castle in Dundee for 'Music is the Answer', and he's done exactly the same for the mighty Cosmic Gate when supporting them on the UK leg of their 'MOSAIIK Chapter II' World Album tour at Joshua Brooks, and Cristoph (also at Joshua Brooks) where he not only handed the decks to Cristoph but also played B2B with him for a little while too. 

With forthcoming gigs supporting the mighty Chicane and Lange and more TBA, the Manchild is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.
