Dancehall Again!!!

My set from Shambhala 2022 during a perfect hot lazy Sunday afternoon with many happy ravers dipping in the river and enjoying the absolute majesty of the alchemy and bliss that emerges over so many years of gathering at Salmo River Ranch. There were many sets on many different occasions at the Living Room which inspired Baby Mandai and it's always a dream come true to return and play on that very stage. Endless gratitude to Mike & Sarah for holding it down for the family for decades and having the kind thought to invite me to play. This ranch is on land that is the traditional territory of the Ktuanxa, Syilx and Snixit people and I am grateful for the opportunities to have celebrated, healed and learned on it.

This is a live set I played at a warm sultry Equinox/birthday party late September alongside some very special people. The place was filled with happy hearts and the dance floor was bumping all night. Grateful for these moments when we get to come together to celebrate the change of seasons, the cycle of life, the harvest and being alive during these wild times. Special shout-out to Ben Searles  of @daegasound and @sela who blessed us with his presence despite the personal journey he triumphed and who always gives a helping hand with a heart of gold, and our beloved Dee @sweetanomaly for graphics and being the most supportive bra ever.

Bass Coast Mix 2014

My set from the astounding and legendary @bass-c0ast 2024, Saturday afternoon at the Cantina stage during the lighta! jam. We all drew set times out of a hat and had 20 minutes each to slam it out. There is no better feeling than playing in the warm summer breeze surrounded by your crew and seeing so many happy faces loving you back. Forever grateful to the people who put on this festival, to the entire @lightasound crew, and to the Scw’exmx, Nlaka’pamux and the Syilx peoples in the Nicola Valley who give us permission to gather on their territories, which include the Coldwater Band, the Nooaitch Band, the Shackan Band and the Upper Nicola Band.

The Field is my favourite gathering orchestrated by my favourite people in the world and I've never had so much fun playing than I did this year. Bass Coast Set 2019

I played a 2 hour set one night at a small gathering some time ago and never recorded it, so did a live stream of it while re-recording it so I could share it with all you fine people (with some refinement, so it wasn't so long). So grateful to those who create spaces where we can come together and dance, hoping that will happen again sometime soon. Originally played and then live-streamed on shishálh Nation land.

This bad gyal has been a long-time staple in Vancouver's underground bass scene for more than two decades. She started out by spending countless hours digging elbow-deep in crates of 45s in Canada, the US and Jamaica. Her finely curated sets landed her behind the decks continuously and firmly solidified her as a member of Vancouver's notorious LIGHTA! crew. She is well-known for her legendary mixes, some being all-vinyl releases, her true love. Blending reggae/dancehall with dembow/bass/rap/RnB/grime, her musical repertoire is expansive and fresh. A regular at Bass Coast, she also graced stages at Shambhala, Diversity and her family-run festival The Field. She rocked the Thunder Stage at LIB and made ripples at the Moon Stage at the Oregon Eclipse. She has opened for well-known artists in both the reggae/dancehall and international underground music scenes and graces underground parties spanning the west coast and other major musical hubs. In 2012 she gave birth to Lighta's youngest little member. bup!bup!
