The darkness of the night can mean everything and nothing. The empty and the complete. The erase and contemplate. It can exist and not exist. It can be fear and comfort. It is hiding and freedom. Escape and affirmation. Loneliness and company. Silence and noise.
In the night is where everything (not) happens, the eyes see, but not necessarily look. Mouths move, but not necessarily express. Bodies meet, but not necessarily feel.
Artificial lights overshadow natural lights, poles and lighthouses replace the stars. Sleep becomes anesthesia.
The sun will shine once more and a new day will begin. A new night awaits, in an eternal cycle of (un)certainties. Night in light, day in darkness. Speaking low and thinking aloud. Screaming in and silencing out.
I walk through the blue sky, the white clouds, and still nocturne.
