Poolo Podcast - Elevator Night Friday Nov 10th, 2023

In Bolingbrook, IL sitting around my aunt's dining room table with mom, while aunt napping on the sofa and my husband on the toilet, I was thinking about our old answering machine message, "Don't Bust your Belly, from eating all of that bird. Happy Thanksgiving!" This made me miss answering machines. I only really get voicemail messages from my elderly friends or scammers. It made me miss old times before people scammed left and right, or at least before I noticed. Now it seems it's best to text anyway. Listen and like or heart ❤️ my table talk with my mom.

Mandy has been praised for her raw sound and high notes. “Mine, mine, mine” from Pocahontas, roles in drama club’s Christmas production at BJ Ward Middle School, “Make it Happen” by Mariah Carey in her school’s popular “Pop’s Concert" at Romeoville High School, "Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child in RHS’s talent show, the Italian soprano aria, "O Mio Babbino Caro," during Bolingbrook's 2001 Junior Miss in Illinois were the first samples showing off Mandy’s powerful vocals. 

Through the Posse Foundation, Mandy attended Denison University were she joined DU’s African American Gospel Choir as a first soprano, hitting the highest notes out of 130 members, and studied voice under Dr. Raymond Wise after performing in Madeira, Portugal with DU and Raise Choir. She also appeared in Brian Shotzbarger's senior film as a lead housekeeper her junior year of college.

In the holiday season of 2005, Mandy marketed a karaoke product under the Avenue Model and Talent Agency for Leadsinger in a Sam’s Club in Naperville, IL where she sang and engaged customers with her friendly personality. She sang "If I Ain't Got You" at her close friend's wedding in NC in 2008 too. Mandy has worked with an International group of musicians, known as Bluebird, performing for a Chinese audience at Grand Metropark North York Hotel in Shenyang, China for a Christmas Eve extravaganza variety show in December 2012 where the production company deemed her, “an American famous singer” for the Chinese masses. 

Mandy also competed in numerous karaoke contests winning bottle service at Marquee Nightclub in “the Library” at the Cosmopolitan Casino in Las Vegas, a recording studio session with Platinum Sound Lab from singing at Brendan’s Irish Pub in the Orleans in Vegas, and 3 times 1st place cash prizes at Harrah’s Casino in Joliet, IL beating the infamous Jermaine Sellers who placed 2nd that later appeared as one of the Top 20 contestants in season 9 of American Idol. 

Mandy has composed vocal melodies for various original projects with fellow musicians displaying her versatility with such songs as “Indian Beach Astronomy” a techno-dance mix by David Weese, a ballad with lyrics and melody by Mandy called “Temptation” with Joe Tiscareno’s piano accompaniment, and “Indian Summer” an indie tune created by Mike Gutierrez. 

From 2010–2012, Mandy played in various venues around Sin City with the original hard rock band, Achilleion, music style influenced from Led Zeppelin, as a lyricist and lead vocalist producing a self-titled 7 song album “Achilleion” featuring the twangy “Soon” and inspirational lyric filled “Boogie Tune”. 

In January 2020, Mandy sang backup on the Beijing International Christian Fellowship (BICF) worship team, to an internationally diverse audience, accomplishing one of her dreams, to sing for Jesus again. Mandy's last performances, besides occasional karaoke fun, were at her home church, Fresh Rain, in Las Vegas with "Graves to Gardens" in February 2022 along with "Mary, Did You Know" on Christmas. 

Mandy spoke on Laiba's Inspiration Talks on YouTube while creating and hosting Accent Interviews. Quitting teaching refugees English, for an offer that was retracted, led her to becoming a brand ambassador. Recently, in 2023, Mandy has served Samsung, ROAM Homegrown, and Yerbaé discovering a love for sales and connection. 

As for now, Mandy’s currently in Vegas seeking positions with talent and event management agencies, open for voice overs, promotional modeling, marketing, singing, session studio recording, commercials, lyrical writing, acting, interacting with the public, and other vocal projects. "My next dream is to record a Christian solo album further proving that music for God can be cool."
