This set was made to accompany the VR project "Small Acts of Violence" by artist Aay Liparoto. More information on the project can be found here: https://www.aliparoto.com/small-acts-of-violence

The set constitutes of songs (all of which are produced by female and trans artists) that I associate with the ambiguous crossover between love and violence, accompanied by snippets of the voice-over by Conway McDermott.

Moans and whistles is a composition that arose out of a research that took place over the span of a year (and still counting, potentially, on the airplane spotters platform of Zaventem. The Platform faces the airplane strip, but is also enclosed by two deportation centers (Caricole & Repatriërings Centrum 127Bis).

It was presented live, as part of a performance, besides which a text is proclaimed and a film is screened. The Composition was made with field recordings recorded at the platform.

I would like to thank  the archival website and collective ‘Getting the Voice Out’ (https://www.gettingthevoiceout.org/)  who are doing very extensive archival work concerning all of the people incarcerated in closed centres in Belgium; in order the gain attention, provide help, and actively protest agains the existence of closed centers.
