A music journalist since 1994 and DJ since ’97, Marc began playing records at the legendary Nitsa Club (Barcelona) in 1999, becoming a mainstay resident since then.

After more than two decades playing extra long sets and state of the art warm-ups for the biggest names in the game he eventually decided not to fit into any particular style and embraced a chameleonic way of DJing which enables him to swing comfortably between genres, ultimately being able to play almost any kind of music or venue without compromising the quality of his sets —a rare ability nowadays.

While being “simply” a resident DJ might seem not that cool today, this is how Marc learned to make smooth transitions between very different acts and able to maintain the energy of the dance floor while keeping the ego in check and focusing in the crowd. Marc believes that adapting to the environment while also taking the crowd by surprise is one of his biggest assets.

After many years focused solely on DJing and refining his technique and style to the highest standards, Marc stepped forward into production, becoming involved with John Talabot’s label Hivern Discs, where he releases his own productions. In addition, he’s been busy producing a wide array of remixes (The xx, Colder, Save! and many more) and with C.P.I., his project with Hugo Capablanca where he’s been able to explore in a more experimental direction fusing leftfield, trance, electro or new beat.

With his name finally getting the recognition it deserves outside his native Spain, Marc plays at some of the world’s top clubs, including Panorama Bar, Lux, Robert Johnson, Trouw, and Space Ibiza, to name just a few.

LAYER number three-o-five displays MArc's interest in the atmospheric side of clubbing, drifting from ambient via submissive melodies for the meek, all the way to harsher dom club sounds.

Khidja is not a DJ group, but rather a duo of electronic music producers from Romania, consisting of Andrei Rusu and Florentin Tudor. They have been making music together since 2011 and have gained a reputation for their unique and innovative sound, which draws inspiration from a wide range of musical styles, from jazz to industrial, post punk to techno. 

Khidja's music is characterized by its hypnotic rhythms, intricate textures, and eclectic mix of analog and digital sounds. 

Khidja has released music on a number of respected electronic music labels, including DFA Records, Malka Tuti, and Hivern Discs. They have also remixed tracks for artists such as Red Axes, Billy Cobham, Man Jumping or Plus Instruments.

In addition to their work as producers, Khidja are also highly regarded as DJs, known for their eclectic and unpredictable sets that blend together a wide range of musical genres and styles. They have played at clubs and festivals across Europe and beyond, including Panorama Bar in Berlin, Nuits Sonores in Lyon, and Dekmantel in Amsterdam.

Overall, Khidja is a duo of talented and innovative electronic music producers who have made a significant impact on the contemporary dance music scene. Their music is highly regarded by critics and fans alike, and they continue to push the boundaries of electronic music with their unique sound and vision.

For this special mix, Khidja has selected the BMW 850 CSi, a high-performance grand tourer produced from 1992 to 1996. Manfredas and Vilnius are not one and the same but so intrinsically linked that the Lithuanian capital makes a good starting point. Although, Manfredas got his first musical experience via his hometown radio (long shifts soundtracking a country exploding itself out of the Soviet glaciation), it was his move to Vilnius that started it all. 

Skip a few shifts at legendary club Gravity and an electroclash band and we get to Opium and Smala. It is quite hard to fathom how important the club and Manfredas’ imprint were to the Vilnius nightlife, and still are. For years, this was the party and what a party that was; creating a scene out of not much, educating a couple of generation of clubbers, tightening friendships and making Manfredas the international DJ he is today. For many, it made Vilnius unexpectedly the best clubbing city in the world.

After a string of solo releases and remixes aimed at the furthest corners of the dancefloor, Manfredas took a deep breath and reached out even beyond that furthest corner. With drummer Marijus Aleksa, he created Santaka, an organic/electronic post-jazz (insert whatever term you please) with releases on Byrd Out and legendary Finnish label Sahko, and a live project where the dance floor and non-dancefloor merge hypnotically.

When Manfredas co-created Radio Vilnius in 2021, a hub for experimental music in a dire national landscape, it was another way to pay his dues to the local scene. Born online, Radio Vilnius has now launched it's own record label, inaugurated by Santaka themselves.

When The Last Smala happened in 2020, Manfredas & Ivan Smagghe created a new party outfit: Dresden, a bastard child of Vilnius and London, mother of all nighters, designer of t-shirts, travelling circus (from Love International to Wonderfruit, Glastonbury to Sonar). More hours put in for unruly people, more psychedelic music, including a two-day “weekender” at Gallery, the new hyper-club opened by the Opium crew.

Jack of all trades but master of many (we haven’t talked about his love of food), you can find Manfredas touring the world searching for that extra sparkle and sharing it with all of us.
