A poco più di due anni dal debutto i Mangaboo escono con un nuovo singolo, anticipazione del secondo album dal titolo “Autoradio” che vedrà la luce nel maggio 2020. Giulietta e Pisti consolidano così un sodalizio nato a Torino, la città che negli anni li ha visti protagonisti di progetti musicali assai diversi fra loro ma dal forte denominatore comune: la musica elettronica. Si sta parlando di progetti come Krakatoa e Motel Connection per Francesco Pistoi aka Pisti e di The Sweet Life Society per Giulietta Passera. 

Il nuovo singolo “Sienteme”, che uscirà il 20 gennaio, gode della collaborazione di un musicista d’eccezione, Enzo Avitabile, sassofonista, polistrumentista e cantautore napoletano che dagli anni Settanta scalda i palchi di tutto il mondo. La collaborazione con i Mangaboo è nata all’interno del Torino Jazz Festival di qualche anno fa, quando Pisti insieme all’amico e produttore Hugo diedero vita ad una fitta libreria musicale campionando i grandi jazzisti che dai palchi del festival passavano alla loro sala di registrazione. Un luogo che in breve tempo divenne punto d’incontro imprescindibile per tutti i musicisti durante i momenti off del festival.

Il testo di “Sienteme”, registrato in quell’occasione e scritto da Enzo Avitabile, è caratterizzato da una metrica rap in dialetto napoletano alternato da un più melodico ritornello in griko, idioma di eredità ellenica tuttora in uso nel sud Italia. Oggi “l’Africa si avvicina all’Europa” mentre “l’Oriente si sveglia e l’Occidente si riposa” ma “la musica vera non tiene colori, da secoli e secoli quando era un rumore”. Attualità e antichità si accompagnano non solo nella forma ma anche nel contenuto del pezzo: si tratta di un testo civile che più che mai si rivolge al mondo contemporaneo e a tutti i popoli da sempre in continuo movimento. Il tutto sottolineato da un arrangiamento elettronico tribale che lascia poco scampo all’idea di stare fermi e buoni.

Il brano uscirà in digitale e in vinile accompagnato da tre remix firmati da Germano Ventura, Fabrizio Maurizi e ulderico tarasconi. La grafica della copertina sarà a cura dello sreet artist BR1.

La grande novità è che questa prima uscita fa parte di un progetto discografico più ampio che è Lunetta 11, uno studio di produzione e galleria d’arte contemporanea con sede in un piccolo borgo dell’Alta Langa piemontese, che dal 2020 darà vita anche a un’etichetta discografica e che vedrà la collaborazione con produttori e musicisti su ampio raggio.

Mangaboo is an imaginary place located close to the center of the Earth.

It is enlightened by a motionless sun that has a colorful luminosity and it is surrounded by five other suns of different colours. Since the sun is static, there is no night and the time is not marked.

The inhabitants of Mangaboo sprout in gardens and they live hung on plants until they reach the mature age. Their life cycle is infinite, as they revive from the ground every five years.

The city of Mangaboo is made of crystal and it is affected by very low gravity, the inhabitants walk in mid-air slightly. The court of the Wizard stands out from the whole city; he is the counsellor of the reigning Princes.
