Andrea Tempo is an Italian DJ and producer, and a member of independent label Slow Motion. Drawing his influences from NY's Dance Punk scene of the early 80's, Andrea got his start playing alt rock with a few of his hometown's local bands. He fell in love with electronic music thanks to Nu Rave and Elettro from the noughties and 80's Italian dance productions. Andrea likes: Americano cocktails, Fender Telecasters, vintage shop signs and logos, Sci-Fi and B-movies, Moog/Roland/DSI synths, Pizza and Orange Amps.

YOKOCHO's debut on Ransom Note Records sub-label, Insult To Injury (run by remixer Timothy Clerkin) is a low fidelity, nostalgic tour de force. Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, YOKOCHO has inherited the New Beat mantle and run with it; putting his own, inimitable spin on it! The EP will also be available on cassette tape, where it truly belongs.

Lead single Everyday Diamonds is a feel-good summer hit, perfect to lift one’s spirits heavenwards, post-lockdown! Data brings us crashing back to earth with some distorted, visceral 303 action, providing a down & dirty antidote to the single.

Other Side Of The Mirror brings yet more lofi drum machine groove to the table, before we’re drowned in a sea of lush, ambient vintage synthesizers at the breakdown. See You There is the perfect way to close out – if robots in the 80’s dreamt of paradise islands, this was the soundtrack to their dreams. Sublime.

Label owner, Timothy Clerkin has produced a 303-propelled, Acid-House dance-floor destroying remix of Everyday Diamonds, which provides a counterpoint to the wobbly tape, slow-mo originals, ensuring that the YOKOCHO sound can be translated into any club environment.

Founded by the Berlin-based Chilean hermanos of the respected duo Random Atlas (SXDNS155/FREEDL024), ODD Pleasures finally delivers its electrifying second compilation. Entitled “Suburbia”, the VA encompasses many a spectrum of dark grooves spread throughout its eleven hand-picked cuts. Ducati Flux, JGR, A-Tweed (FREEDL222/FREEDL029), Aural Trace, Cosman, ROB-IIN, Oblako Maranta, Bojarchük, Monoblok (SXDNS204), iuan (FREEDL036), and Soulcat & Jan Esmaeili, artists hailing from different backgrounds and corners of the crazy world we live in, contributed with their respective and characteristic sonorities to the releases, resulting in a wealthy hotchpotch of soundscapes devoted to pleasing both the electro club-smasher lover and the immersive sonic traveller out there.

The high quality and plurality of the themes turned the mission of selecting only one to premiere into a tough one. A little deliberation was needed until we ultimately reached a verdict: Monoblok’s contribution, the chosen one, drew our attention due to its funky and playful conduct. The beautiful bassline topped with a mellow and dreamy pad plus the Kraftwerk-like synth layers left us without any trace of doubt we had picked one of the most significant tracks of the compilation and thus the right one.
