It is finally the time to embark for this journey I planned for a while.

Since I cannot settle for just one thing, this is a journey to discover all sorts of sounds, sailing from down to earth and tropical grooves to transcending italo and cosmic inflections. And you are all invited.

Expect updates regularly, but keep in mind that sailing is not easy. We might encounter Hi-NRG storms, soulful siren voices, thunder-like bass sounds and windless days while drifting from the inner to the outer space. So, buckle up!

This is a recollection of my early days of listening to deep house music. Heavily featuring two of my favorite labels then and now, Guidance Recordings and Paper Recordings. Also, and most importantly, this is a recreation of a couple of mixes that my best friend and mentor, Craig Howell, made in the late 90s that changed the trajectory of my life forever. I am so excited 2 introduce you 2 my little homie 4 many years, DJ Curtis Black aka Chris Aquilo aka Frozen Boy. I met Chris during one of thee WMC parties where He hosted the Deep House Page event in Miami back in 2002.
Thee following year I moved 2 Miami... & when I did, I contacted my brother Chris. He invited me 2 come on his "4 Thoze Who Know" Radio X Show on 88.5FM in Ft Lauderdale/Miami. We instantaneously connected. With our muzikal style, alwayz pushing thee envelope in our DJ setz. 
Chris wuz also kind enough 2 have me play @ the Deep House Page WMC event @ Club Honey in South Beach Miami in 2004. As well as an amazing party @ Club Karma in Ft. Lauderdale.

Ian Ellison is a Los Angeles based music producer, DJ, and teacher with a deep passion for electronic music. He is particularly inspired by the simplicity and to-the-point nature of minimalism and frequently implements creative limitations in his own practice.  In 2023 he started Pseudonote, a creative outlet and “record label” of sorts to release the music of friends and collaborators, as well as his own productions. He enjoys studying different music-making methodologies and technologies in order to further explore sound as a medium for creative expression.

This is the departure point of our Tropitalo trip.
The plan to sail through all sorts of sounds, from down to earth and tropical melodies to italo, dreamy and cosmic signals.

While sailing during the night, the radio station started receiving some weak, cosmic transmissions. The sea was calm, and the moon was almost purple. We began to turn the boat around like a tuner knob and followed the signal.

Sailing Tropitalo 003 - Italo Interception

The transmissions became clearer and louder, guiding us to the stars.
It was late Sunday when we finally encountered someone. Weird dudes with elongated shapes and shiny skin, dancing to some out-of-this-world tunes, handed us what seemed to be some Martini and invited us to join the party.
A Hi-NRG mantra enveloped us, and we danced hypnotized all night long.

I was not alone, and www.instagram.com/danacurculescu/ managed to capture an iconic moment of this night.

Luckily, I was able to record something.

Sailing Tropitalo 004 - Dancing in the dark

As we dive deeper into the night and the hypnotic music intensifies, everyone pulls out their best dance moves like they could not hold off.
All sorts of enchantments from all over the galaxy were taking control over our bodies, and we started to move freely through time and space.
All of this ended with a strong sense of love and communion for all the beings that surrounded us, and we felt like we were, in the end, all the same.
