Lied To Laure

Premiere: Bailey Ibbs - Lied To Laure [SR001]

Fungitopia captures live electrochemical data of various mycelium samples and translates these signals into music, based on his scientific data. The installation uses four different mycelia cultures and maps their electrical signals to various instruments, forming a generative soundscape.

Evoking chance music work pioneered by John Cage, this is uses live data to generate musical possibilities. This soundscape  slowly transforms and mutates, switching instruments over time with endless possibilities for sonic direction. As an ambient soundscape, this sculptural installation asks the question of whether or not mycelium have their own intelligence.

Premiere: sr² - Fighting Against Legions Of Pricks [AR003]

Morning techno mood as the sun comes up over the Arabian Gulf (at least that's what it's called on this side). Bleepy sparkles of morning light filtering through sand streaked windows.

Background pad on the Prophet Rev2, bass drone on Moog Matriarch, bleepy techno plucks on the DFAM from a generative sequence by Play. Minifreak comes in with a second pad / stab. Recorded in one take live on location.

I bought the Prophet off Dubizzle (the local version of Craigslist / Kleinanzeigen / Kijiji). There was a funny moment where I sent an excited WhatsApp message with "I want to buy the Prophet!" and it turned out to be a wrong number. I ended up on the 82nd floor of a tower in Dubai mostly inhabited by Emirates employees and got a rather good deal from a Dutchman on his way out who wasn't going to bother shipping his synths back to the Old World.

This track blends the shimmering tones of Balinese gamelan with raw, field-recorded rooster calls captured in Les Village, Bali. Inspired by the energy and rhythm of traditional rooster fights and the serene playfulness of children performing gamelan, the piece explores the tension between chaos and harmony. Layered textures of metallic percussion, rhythmic clucks, and ambient village soundscapes create an immersive journey—where nature and culture meet in sound.
