Feels Good sets off swiftly, merging prominent kick-clap combos with shimmering pulses throughout. It’s a real peak-time number, enhanced by Jem’s touching vocal offering, that showcases the stripped-back and ethereal theme of the single. Patrice Bäumel’s remix soon arrives and brings with it a poignant combination of celestial pads and rolling synth tones, as Jem’s stunning lyrical contributions magnify the track’s moving nature once more. 

Leeds born and now based in Ibiza, Audiojack have been at the forefront of electronic music for over a decade. In recent times the Gruuv-label founders have released their Isolation Tapes series to widespread industry acclaim, using music to provide a way out from the feelings of anxiety caused by lockdown and separation. UK singer-songwriter Jem Cooke is no stranger to Crosstown Rebels. First debuting on the label in 2018 alongside Made By Pete on So Long, it was later that year that Audiojack went on to remix the single. More recently, Jem collaborated with Damian on Into The Sun from his 2020 Flourish LP. A well-established member of the Crosstown Rebels family, Patrice Bäumel is one of Germany’s greatest exponents. Recent productions on Watergate Records and Systematic Recordings continue to showcase the emotive sound with which he’s become best known, whilst his performance at DGTL’s virtual festival last year marked another step in his ever- flourishing career.

Inspiration

Los Angeles based duo, Manics, make their Club Sweat! debut with their signature bass-disco sound on “Better Now”. Featuring funked up and hypnotic bass lines, euphoric choir samples and original vocal work, the single showcases the indie-dance artists’ dance floor and live set duality that they’ve become known for. “We love playing live shows, but we’re also entrenched in the club world and we wanted to make something that works for both spaces” says members Jordan Deherrera and Chris Sanders.
To further ensure club play, Manics called on long time friend Lubelski for remix duties. Slightly sped up and impeccably driving, his remix provides late night potential for the ear-worm vocals to make their way into club sets.

Following the fevered reception of their 2018 single “HAL,” the union between main stage lovemaker Kölsch and techno iceman Tiga has returned with “Hand in Hand,” a rapturous exercise in sacral catharsis that many are calling the ultimate set closer. 

Emboldened to use his natural speaking voice for the first time on the title track, Tiga is eager to open up about this sentimental departure from his usual fare: “When it comes down to it, I’m an emotional frogman, When I hear a beating heart, I dive right in heart-first.”

Meanwhile, B-side “Almost Everything” takes the vibe into Kölsch’s signature indescribable euphoric heights. So indescribable in fact that we had to ask BO, Turbo’s proprietary AI and Metadata Scraper, to analyze the track based on tempo, emotional valence, and “fun factor”. His conclusion: “Total banger.” Thanks, BO!

Reflecting on just what he’s achieved here with his Danish friend Kölsch, Tiga is characteristically thoughtful: “Would you rather have a gun in your hand, or a hand in your hand? If you even have to think about the answer, you need to open your heart ASAFP because nothing less than the future of love and music hangs in the balance. It’s entirely up to you."

MANICS is an indie dance group comprised of Jordan Deherrera, Chris Sanders and various session players. Their sound is diverse yet cohesive, coupling elements from multiple sub genres of dance music with contemporary production aesthetics. With live vocals, percussion, programming and synth work, Manics live sets are dynamically unique.
