Stoker first came to our attention thanks to his underground anthem 'Sick & Tired' (available on our FINRG collab album Portal), before going on to hone his homegrown production skills with an epic remix of 'Ignition' on Stamina's landmark Sixty-Five EP. Here he has upped his game once again, simultaneously really nailing down what his sonic is all about, in the form of two beautifully bittersweet slices of serious freeform. So what is the Stoker sound? 'Extinction' steps up to answer that question first, laying down some trademark Stoker phenomena in part to its pensive chords, jaw-droppingly beautiful string & piano section, and quintessentially classic freeform main riff. 303s aplenty pepper the track, and the theme of acid spills over into the second offering on the EP, with 'True World' also donning more than a few squelchy resonant sequences. With a higher tempo and rougher, more underground approach, there's still a lot of Stoker signifiers to fix this firmly in the category of modern day freeform anthem, thanks to expertly keyed piano and strings, Nordic-styled twisted synth leads, and even more consummate freeform melodies. An epic addition to our catalogue for those who like their freeform classic, pure and anthemic; essential underground listening on your favourite Stamina Records imprint.
