Travelling through space, they looked out at what was below them. The planet was far away now and there was no guarantee that they might ever be able to return. Perhaps they were destined to live amongst the stars. They would become the aliens they once feared as they floated from realm to realm in the darkness.

There wasn't much light up here, nor sound but for the occasional chime or hum from the machine which propelled them onwards. Sometimes it were as if it was trying to communicate with them, perhaps to let them know that they were not all alone.

Terra Magica Rec. are set to release a record from Grischerr called 'Blue Gem Cavalcade'. It's a special, pensive collection of deep futuristic sounds paired with remixes from some stellar producers. The Heap remix was our pick of the bunch.

Apartment 73, first floor. Valera lies in his bed, staring at the ceiling. His left leg is sticking out from under the blanket as usual. The scents of damp soil and lilac waft in from the street. The rain drums on the leaves of a young maple in the front yard. In that social network that Valera now visits only once every couple of months, a notification popped up about the birthday of someone he met only once, about ten years ago, and now he cannot calm down. That evening used to exist in his memory in the finest detail, but now it's like a series of random snapshots: a long strand of his date’s hair, that she kept tucking behind her ear, the broadcast of the «Milan»-«Lazio» football match in the bar (the «Rossoneri» won 3:1, if he recalls correctly), and a recently painted dark-brown bench – they almost landed on it when they were already quite tipsy. Valera can't shake the question «I wonder if she ever thought about that meeting in August? Maybe on her way home in a taxi or just like this — in her bedroom on an early weekend morning?». There is a magical pill that could distract him from such pointless questions — xinyi mix for 5/8: radio. But unfortunately, he doesn't even know it exists. So he continues to lie in bed, staring at the ceiling, with his left leg still sticking out from under the blanket.

TANS – The Unfaithful Husband EP


The next vinyl record from Squirrels On Film is a special edition white label by TANS. The Unfaithful Husband EP contains four filthy acid laced electric body movers from Southern Italy's Michelle Tansella. Michelle currently lives in Berlin where he makes industrial techno with his cousin Mike Tansella Jr as SONS OF TRADERS, & has released experimental cassettes on the UK's Seagrave label, but his roots go back to the Italian Hip Hop scene of the 80s & early 90s with a group called Zona 45.

Il Marito Infedele begins the EP & its tape saturated industrial throb evokes the best of that distinctive sound of underground European dance music whose thread runs through Italo Disco, Cold Wave & Acid House. A sinister groove for a giallo séance, the electric tom tom drums pound away against a murky bed of rhythmic fuzz, eventually surrendering to the four on the floor energy flash. The edges stay rough throughout, resulting in a delightfully dirty, unpolished funk.

Vera Vera combines the arpeggiated synthitic bass of classic Italo with late 80s Windy City Wax Trax & Acid. A snap of white noise snare squish keeps time until the WBMX beat hits. A proper atonal synth freakout squeals its way out of some primitive extra terrestrial party machine then the beat takes over again, emphasizing the low frequencies of the groove.

Growing Concern is where the tab kicks in all the way. Distorted 303, blown-out 707 complete with unapologetic cow bell take the body on a journey through a strobe light smoke machine sweat-drenched laser rave fantasy. It's a feeling of walls being brought down, and there doesn't seem to be any way back.

Missing Foundation is another lysergic banger, a drum machine drawing Fibonacci sequences in your brain as you transcend the grimy warehouse where you left your body. The timeless glow of consensual dancefloor utopia burns bright even when you close your eyes, the monochrome of this white label having exploded into technicolor pixels & smiling yellow faces repeating infinitely to the vanishing point of the imagination.
