"Hay muchas historias sobre cómo Wesley se inspiró para escribir este himno, pero ninguna ha sido completamente comprobada. Algunas de ellas son las siguientes. Al regresar a Inglaterra en el otoño de 1763, después de un tiempo decepcionante en Estados Unidos, el barco de Charles Wesley fue atrapado en una tormenta y parecía que todo estaría perdido, pero el 3 de diciembre llegaron a tierra. Wesley escribió en su diario ese día: “Me arrodillé y bendije la Mano que me había conducido a través de laberintos inextricables.” Algunos escritores dicen que durante la tormenta un pájaro voló a la cabina de Wesley y se escondió en su pecho buscando consuelo y seguridad. Otro dice que Wesley escribió este texto mientras yacía bajo un seto, después de haber sido golpeado por una multitud enojada que se oponía a su ministerio. Otros más ven el texto como un reflejo de la propia vida de Wesley cuando era joven, mientras luchaba por encontrar su paz con Dios antes de su dramática conversión el 21 de mayo de 1738. Manish Vyas, born in Gujarat, India (lives in Switzerland) and has been learning Indian music since the age of ten, he learnt Tabla with Ustad Allarakha in Mumbai, where he continued for many years, while he was in charge of the musical department at Osho Ashram in Pune, organizing and performing concerts. He is composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist (Tabla, Harmonium, Santoor, Keyboard) and teacher. Along his lifetime musical path, he has composed hundreds of songs, mainly in the devotional, folk, instrumental, meditative and Sufi genres. He has released more than 20 albums. He offers the perfect blend of Indian genuine sounds merged with a touch of fusion, which makes his music so accessible and appreciated by all type of listeners in the search of authentic Indian sounds.
