Violet Poison is the proto-EBM/Industrial side-project of Italian producer and dj, Francesco Baudazzi, previously known as Obtane, the techno project he shut down in 2012. 

Violet Poison is inspired by oldschool EBM and synth/wave music from the 80's. Baudazzi also runs different projects under various aliases, some focused on 80's thriller/horror soundtracks and some on US-oriented Italo-disco/freestyle. Baudazzi also is the label head for Veleno Viola that is also a podcast mix series

Our Mix series enters a new round with Arcyniegas.
Based in Barcelona, he has been helping to break down genre boundaries and create his own sound for a lot of years now. Which is easy to follow via his productions on FU.ME Records, The Black Lodge, Píldoras Tapes, META MOTO or Hiroshima 45/Chernobyl 86/Windows 95.

This mix is a perfect example of his diverse approach. Metallic snares, analog synths, jackin' drum scenarios, acid basslines, new beatish lurkers, dark electro and some minimal wave twists all stirred together to a hellish vinyl concoction.

For this new full-length output, Gil.Barte delivers on Teenage Menopause an 8 tracks LP full of formal strength and psychedelic grandeur. Unlike the vast near-death explorations or trancey adventures he developped on various labels such as Neubau, Big Science Records, Homemade Soundsystem or his own imprint Meth'O'Tapes, the meaningfully-named « Claviceps Purpurea » is a botanist guide to the valleys of the mind.

From the eponym opening to the ending echo, each entry is a glance at magical universal exotica. With an intense emphasis on rhythm, standing quite apart from his former releases, Gil.Barte draws the bouncing steps of a whirlwind dance rooted in western witchcraft.

Raging pieces of club-destroying material (for those who dare) meet sketches of electronic fever-dreams. A full circle that is meant to run on and on, breaking the veil of daylight consciousness.

Some of the tracks are old and deeply sentimental to me, but in today’s world and climate, it felt right to bring them back and play with them. 

The mix has its flaws, I know—but that’s exactly what I love about underground sound: the rawness, the emotion, the imperfection.

I enjoy exploring wonderfully bizarro melodies cling to crisped percussion, all shrouded in a smokey blanket of saturation. 

Haunting basslines, exotic resonance howls, sludgy synths drowning in the umbra, diabolical carnival organs, and stygian vocals.

With its 10th edition, Dalmata Daniel’s split series brings together two artists who have both left their mark on the label’s compilations, now presenting their first full releases on the imprint. Anatolian Weapons and The Spy approach electronic music from different angles, one rooted in hypnotic techno rituals, the other in raw electro and post-punk energy. Both craft sounds that thrive in the shadows of the dancefloor.

On the A-side, Anatolian Weapons delivers three cold, hypnotic cuts. "Trapped" opens with heavy EBM percussion and a buzzkill bassline, setting a tense, mechanical tone. "Further Spiralling Down" sinks deeper into darkness with a grinding low end, tight drums, and electro-tinged claps, forming the side’s relentless highlight. "Apathy Through Shock" closes with pounding, catatonic rhythms and a mournful, otherworldly melody, pushing the listener into disorienting depths.

Flipping over, The Spy’s raw, electro-driven energy takes hold. "Same Blur" channels sharp electro beats with a punkish sneer and cosmic synth lines. "Falling", featuring The Spy’s own vocals, leans into melancholic new wave, pairing bouncy rhythms with bittersweet melodies. The closing "Pretending" drifts into the darkest corners, offering low-slung, haunted electro layered with distant, spectral harmonies.

Cititrax is excited to present the third in a series of four song samplers showcasing the talents of some of the most innovative producers of the moment. Cititrax: Tracks Volume Three features the a powerful new collaboration between Amato (aka The Hacker) and Mariana Saldana (ex-Medio Mutante, Boan), the brutal industrial techno of Barcelona based British producer The Sixteen Steps, a Polish mastermind based in Miami known as His Dirty Secrets, and the NYC underground duo Further Reductions (Shawn O’Sullivan and Katie Rose). The overall sound can be described as modern, uncompromising and guttural. Each artist reinvents dance music by bringing their own unique vision to the floor. 
Artwork designed by Veronica Vasicka and sourced from Polaroids shot in NYC clubs in the 1980s, Cititrax: Tracks Volume Three is pressed on blood red clear vinyl – limited to 999 copies and housed in a matte printed sleeve.
