Mannequin Records is proud to present one of the most rare and unknown Italian Minimal Synth bands from the 80's. 

Musumeci were formed in Turin at the beginning of 1985, from an idea of Mauro M. (synthesizers - ex guitar player of Rude Pravo) and Franco G. (programming - ex noise maker of Errata-S-Corrige).

The group was founded as a link and expression of various experiences, aimed, at least initially, to highlight the individual personalities of the members. The formation settles after six months of testing with the final entry of Laura G. (ex-keyboardist of Rude Pravo) and Paul C. (voice of K Position).  Musumeci were playing several shows, preceded by long monologues in which find space rumorism, electrical scans, voices, screams, etc.

Presented here are the two super rare demo tapes that Musumeci recorded in 1985 ("Schwarz Morgen") and in 1986 ("Zusammen"), on their own label Zeltweg.

Les Colettes - Five Doors

R.i.O. welcomes Brainwave Research Center, a NYC-based duo consisting of house/techno producer Chase Smith and documentary filmmaker Christa Majoras. In early 2023 they freed their debut album “figure 1” via their own label BRC. Two more albums followed. All documenting their love for experimental yet charming music of all kinds.

Their influences span a vast spectrum, from Steve Reich, Laurie Spiegel, and Edgar Froese to Martin Rev, John Carpenter, early Kraftwerk, or the ambient techno of Pete Namlook’s Fax +49-69/45046 label. Yet, Brainwave Research Center forges a sound distinctly their own, seamlessly blending analog synthesis with electro-acoustic experimentation.

On “Psychic Antenna”, the duo takes a gentle rawer approach. The tracks range from the manic verbal Die-Tödliche-Doris-like loops of "I Find Myself" to the meditative cosmic trance of "Open Your Mouth." "Orange Drop" and "Transmitter Park" toy with the dancefloor, channeling slow-motion acid trance and krautrock echoes.

The release is rounded out by three remixes: R.i.O.’s own Benedikt Frey delivers a deep, trippy groover full of inner musicality, while close companion DALO crafts a dark, echo-drenched pop rework, and Berlin’s Nathan Dawidowicz injects psyched nu-disco rhythms, expanding “Psychic Antenna” into seven notions of intense neural oscillations.

Stella Z is a London-based composer, and DJ whose music bridges cultural roots with contemporary electronic experimentation. Growing up in a mountainous seaside town in China, she was immersed in Mandarin and Cantonese pop, post-punk, and world music—an eclectic foundation that continues to shape her sound. A rising name in underground music, she was named a Mixmag “Artist to Check Out” in November 2024, selected as a Rhythm Section Future Proof mentee in 2023, and is a resident selector at London’s legendary Jumbi bar.

Her sound is defined by intricate textures, deep atmospheres, and organic sound design, infused with emotive personal storytelling. This vision unfolds in her 2023 debut LP, In The Woods, Will Be Late (Third Place Records)—a tribute to her hometown. The album received praise from The Vinyl Factory, Mixmag Asia, and Electronic Sound, with support from Ben UFO, Cosmo Vitelli, Ciel and more. Her signature sonic world also extends into remixing, from her downtempo rework of Echo Juliet’s “Red Sun” featured on BBC Radio 6 Music to her atmospheric cut of Derek V Bulcke’s “MAKE UP” for La Bonne Musique featured in Mixmag.

On the dancefloor, Stella Z crafts multi-genre, unpredictable sets, weaving slow-burn psychedelia, tribal grooves, and industrial beats while uncovering hidden Asian dance gems. She has opened for Marcellus Pittman, Bolis Pupul, Sean Johnston, and Mogwaa.

Beyond DJing and production, she has made various radio appearances on NTS, Kiosk Radio, Mutant Radio, and more while also curating QUIET CHAOS—a show exploring darker tone of listening music and the subtle nuances of sound.
