how it is possible.. v80fd never sold out !

Thanks for posting this! I bought the DX7iiFD in the winter of '88 and was really excited about the V80FD, especially double on the unison mode sounds. I always imagined the protos ending up in an Area 57 for synths. Are these some of Grey Matter's patches from the E! disk? BTW I think I had bought every bank you put out for SSU, all superb, especially the PERF mode stuff. Glad to see you're still involved in the synth community.

In progess demo tracks for Yamaha's V80FD prototype workstation keyboard, from late 1988 (from an old cassette tape if stashed from way back when)

The V80FD engine was essentially two DX7II engines combined with a REX50 effects chip to be Yamaha's flagship workstation.  All sounds in the demos created by "Enhanced DX7" 6 operator sine wave FM synthesis, including all drum and percussion sounds.

The enhancements included expanded per operator Pitch EG's, LFO's, as well as velocity to feedback and negative velocity to Operator output.  In addition, the design incorporated expansion slots intended to add future additional synthesis Plug In boards - i.e. sample playback, etc, as would eventually be included in the CS6x and S80/S90

At the last minute it was shelved as the development of the SY77 was moved forward.
