About this mix: 
 One thing I love about doing mixes for radio/podcasts is getting to curate a very specific vibe free from the considerations you have to take into account in a live setting, like set time, crowd engagement, the tone of event, things like that. I can just express myself and go in directions I normally wouldn’t take. 

 When I was a kid, there was this compilation series from Moonshine Music called “Speed Limit 140BPM Plus”. It was all this high-energy rave stuff that I just loved. This mix is an homage to that style: fast, driving Techno with melodic hooks. This is a much higher tempo than I’d usually get into in a live set so it’s great to have an outlet to share it! 

J. Michael Kober bio:

"Wyoming native Jeff Kober had his first taste of electronic music at a very young age in the early 90’s and it was love at first listen. Consuming as much music as possible for a cash-strapped pre-teen in pre-internet cowboy country was a challenge he eagerly accepted, and the rate of consumption has yet to slow 30 years on. Completely lacking in any kind of formal music education, he nonetheless started producing his own music in 2007 and took up DJing shortly thereafter, learning through trial and (mostly) error. (His own words.) 

The past 15 years has seen him release original music under the name J. Michael Kober on several labels and has DJ’d in a wide variety of contexts, from producing his own internet radio shows, to recording mixes for podcasts, to playing live in various venues around the state for a myriad of events. His tastes span the dance music spectrum, from Techno to Drum & Bass, Electro House to Nu Funk.  

He takes great pride in being a part of the local electronic music community and keeps striving to reach an ever-widening audience. He’s thankful for the promoters and artists for their collaborative spirit in keeping the Montana scene alive. "

last year MumbleBee and Pandaura played a lot together, including two new years ago, so I couldn't imagine a better way to end the year and to kick off what was ultimately an amazing party.

Going b2b with you feels so natural, Pandaura. “Yes I agree MumbleBee!”
“Now that I think about, we played b2b at least a little bit, and sometimes for like 6 hours, at every event I even DJed last year lol”. “Wow damn you're right! From bar balconies to burning man! And every missoula basement inbetween!”

This mix is filled with fantastic beats that hop from house to drum and bass. Starting with MumbleBee then moving to a b2b session with Pandaura before he took it to the end. It’s always special when we remember to hit record and capture the moment sonically. This one brings me right back to this magic moment when we stood on the edge of 2023 knowing there’d be something new on the horizon for us all.
