Sunset is a song originally performed by Marques Houston. When I first heard this song I was moved by its simplicity, its lyrics and its peaceful melody. But it wasn't until recent events in my personal life that I was inspired to recreate this song as an acoustic cover. I know the song is dated, but to me.....its about the connections we make to music whether its modern or old. I LOVE this song because of what it means to me and the aspects of my life that I choose to relate it to.  I released it a little while ago but i never made it available on soundcloud until now - ENJOY!

At the end of the song I solo over the form with a Melodica.  LOVEEEE that instrument.  Hope you enjoy this sweet tune!  #JustBecause!

A wise man once told me, "Divorce hurts more than death." At first, it seemed ridiculous but as he explained, it made PERFECT sense. Losing the people we love to the nature of death is indeed painful. But there's a pain that forever lingers in our hearts when we lose a loved one because of the mistakes we were not able to correct in time. To see that person at arms reach and know they can no longer be yours is truly dreadful. "I Just Want To Know" is a song i recently recorded as part of my upcoming "Songs About H.E.R." album. Sometimes I make songs to inspire others to do, feel and BE better. This song was created with the purpose of helping me get by. I just pray and hope that it can help you all do the same if you can relate.

Trouble

In August of this year I received news that my younger brother, Luis Antonoel Ruiz, had passed away...I was in shock...I remember having to read the text over and over again in utter disbelief...as the days passed, I just kept replaying memories in my head....I hit up my friend @tecknowledgy and asked him if he could send me an instrumental so that I could just get some pain out of my head....I asked my brother @micsmith if he wanted to join in and he blessed the song with lyrics that truly broke me down........this was not something I intended to share with anyone but my direct family and closest friends....I just wanted the thoughts out of my head......But I would always remember him telling me he was proud of the music I was making.... my aunts would tell me that Luis would always blast my music while he was cleaning and I just felt like deep inside God was pushing me to release this to the world.......maybe there are folks out there that have lost someone special and can’t find the words.....if so, this is for you. 🙏🏼

I hope that maybe someone out there can vibe to this and connect with me as I’ve connected with my family and loved ones during these times. This song cannot replace my brother but I pray it can help others find solace as I have.
