For their tenth session, Disco Gecko are pleased to present Mark from Animat's 'Minor Journey into Dreams' Mix. Animat, Sheffield’s cinematic soundtrackers Mark Daly and Michael Harding have worked together since 2005, establishing a reputation in the UK for their unique live re-score events, performing at cinemas, festivals and other venues across the country with cult films including Dark Star (John Carpenter), Belleville Rendezvous (Sylvain Chomet), Un Homme Qui Dort (Bernard Queysanne) and The Straight Story (David Lynch). The fact that they also work with the existing dialogue and incorporate it into the live performance, plus add other people’s tunes into the mix as well as their own tracks, means that they are effectively working as music supervisors and sound editors as well as original score writers (but all done live in real time).

This time Zakhorov has created a set with a more organic approach to the sweet delicacies of music from the African diaspora, with plenty of cool funky beats and electronic elements for your pleasure. A perfect invocation for the dormant spirits of the Spring breeze.

♫ About the artist: Zakhorov aka Fanni Zahár is a Budapest-born Berlin-based flutist, saxophone player, DJ and producer who is involved in countless musical projects across Europe, ranging from afrobeat and jazz to electronic music. Seeking to find ways to implement her instrumental play into diverse musical environments and the vast amount of experience with music projects such as Ábáse (DE), Deva (H), Joe Armon Jones (UK) and Pat Thomas (GH) to mention a few, she has put together a live set to freely delve into the depths of African-influenced bass and electronic music.
