Obeka - Move Like So Remixes (out on the 31st of March via Basy Tropikalne)

'Move Like So Remixes' not only reimagines 2021's EP full of Afro-Caribbean explorations courtesy of Bermuda-born producer Obeka (@djobeka) but also perfectly showcases different approaches to the art of remixing.

Take 'Test System' - a dancehall-infused track that has proven to be the most popular song from the original release with radio plays in Kampire's BBC Radio 1 residency among others - which comes back in a form of three impressively distinct versions. Influential Peruvian duo Dengue Dengue Dengue (@dengue) revisit their DNGDNGDNG alias and brilliantly come up with a rework in which jungle breaks smoothly intertwine with reggaeton. Further into the EP you can hear the voice of Swordman Kitala, a talented Ugandan MC with numerous appearances on Nyege Nyege's sister label Hakuna Kulala, who flawlessly delivers his verses in Luganda alongside original beat produced by Obeka. Last but not least, a true gem has been cooked up by DJ Danifox (@djdanifox). Strongly departing from the original, he brings his characteristic sound that ideally sets the tone for closing the release with an almost jazzy feel and a somewhat nostalgic manner (saudade, one may say).

Two remaining instrumental songs from 'Move Like So' also get new versions - and both will be perfect for your DJ sets. Title track receives a speeding up treatment from Ultima Esuna, Mexican artist already gathering much deserved attention for her dancehall-leaning compositions that earned her a place on the 2022 Nervous Horizon compilation. And then there's Bandicut, one of the key figures in the Lisbon's global bass scene, who went all out and delivered a true banger making use of the West African drums from the original song.

I crafted the track's components with repetitive vocals and deep basslines to imbue it with a ceremonial character. I've always appreciated the contrast between emotive melodies and harsh percussion. For me, "Ancestros" is a humble tribute to our roots and the cultural diversity of our continent.

Man Recordings is very proud to present the "Flex EP" by São Paulo DJ and producer Sants. Along with other names such as NeguimBeats, Psilosamples, Cybass, Tropkillaz and Omulu, 22 year-old Sants is at the forefront of the new Brazilian beats and bass music scene. In this ambient diverse world of new music and no genre tags, Sants is well known for his distinct ability to digest a wide array of foreign influences and reinterpret them through the harsh lens of the Brazilian scenario, while still entrancing the ever-fickle tastes of the online music community.


"Noite Ilustrada", his first full length album, was conceived during the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp in São Paulo. After gorging himself on laid-back Los Angeles beats by day and heavy London bass by night, Sants craved his own cocktail of sound, inspired by the constant bustle of a metropolitan night. With assistance from many of his Beatwise colleagues, he helped to illustrate the cityscapes and night scenarios average of the Sao Paulo nightlife. After recently starring on Mixmag’s compilation tape with Trapdoor, and a consistent EP "Chavoso", Sants is eager to continue his international collaborations with conviction on his “Flex” EP.


"Flex" is a common term in Brazil for cars that run both on alcohol and gasoline and this is how he wants his music to work as. After a long period of listening just to trap beats, Sants decided to pull some effort shaping the middle-term of what it would be the interpretation of the Brazilian sound by a Brazilian who is nurturing on a diet of both UK bass and global music every single day. The result is the "Flex” EP, who finds home at Man Recordings, another influence for him. In the Eps five tracks, Sants draws club scenarios and urban scapisms of the suburbs of São Paulo by a view of a person who lives its night every single weekend.

Man Recordings is happy to release the new single by Polish-Angolan duo Lua Preta. Titled “Cabeça Na Lua” (“Head On The Moon”).

Based in the Western Polish city of Poznan, Lua Preta are consisting of vocalist and MC Ms. Gia of Angolan descent, and Polish DJ and producer Mentalcut. Together they bring a frenetic mixture of futuristic electronic music and African genres. Their 2016's debut single “Melhor Vai Embora” strongly marked their presence in the scene of African infused club music which led to their first EP  “Emoçoes Coloridas”. Their fresh and unique sound led to 2018 being their breakthrough year with their biggest hit up to date being released ('Quero Mais' featuring Lesotho's Morena Leraba), their first official video being shot entirely in Lisbon and a round of live appearances on festivals and club shows across Europe.

With their debut release on Man Recordings, additional produced by label-boss Daniel Haaksman, Lua Preta move another step forward. Titled “Head On The Moon” this EP features two new tracks. “Cabeça Na Lua” is a heavy hitting, broken beat meets UK funky afro tune reflecting on the need to continue the fight for political and social justice in these grim political times. “Passado” ft. Kevin is a samba and African percussion inspired tune ft. Ms.Gia´s brother Kevin on additional vocals, perfect for maximum club excitement.
