Sungate Journey #37 by Dying

MadAlba was born in July 1985 in Bari, south of Italy. From a very young age, her musical interests moved across a broad spectrum, going from house and dance music to rock and punk leading her lastly to techno and club-culture. 

At age 22 she approached the local scene as Djane with numerous performances in the club circuit of Bari. Through the years she has developed a continued and careful respect of the musical experience. She moved to Berlin in 2011 started djing with only vinyl records. 

This helped her to build a strong reputation as an underground techno DJ, providing opportunity for her to play in clubs such as Tresor, About Blank, SchwuZ, SO36 and Mikz in Berlin where she lives today. 

In September 2011, she spent one month in Detroit where she started the collaboration with DJ Seoul, Tom and Angie Linder of Detroit Techno Militia. This travel has definitely and radically changed her approach to the techno concept, which she considers more a political and social phenomenon and a lifestyle than just a musical genre. 

Back to Berlin she immediately came into contact with the queer scene, then in full bloom, building a network primarily of interpersonal relationships based on mutual support and collaboration, a network that naturally strengthens over the years, leading her to basically all queer realities of the city and beyond. At the same time she cultivated her main profession as a trauma surgeon in a historically male-dominated environment which strengthens her awareness of her role as a woman in a still strongly male-dominated society. 

Thanks to these solid experiences she became resident of the party Homopatik, at the time the flagship of the Berlin queer reality.

Her first releases on vinyl came out in 2014 on DTM-Label (Detroit) and Arkita Records (Berlin), the label that she spawned together with Synkopheit till 2016. 

In 2017 she launched her own record label Future Déjà Vu releasing 6 EP respectively by Transient X4, Ken Karter, Mannella a.k.a. DHARAXT, Phontonz & Shcuro, Rage Therapy and Bertrand. . 

In September 2017 she played her first house set for the summer closing of the Berlin based party Buttons. 

In Summer 2018 MadAlba became resident dj at the historical club Tresor in Berlin. The same year she collaborated with the London based crew Aria with a party series in the UK capital. 

Currently, she is techno resident dj and co-organizer of the party Buttons in About Blank teaming with Danilo Rosato, Jabob Meehan, Shingo Suwa, Akirahawks and Paolo Di Nola. 

Since 2019 she is part of the roster of Pullproxy. 

Over the years, his awareness of the communicative power of his role as a DJ not an end in itself but always aimed at creating a network based on the basic values of absolute respect for all forms of diversity, has been strengthened to the point carrier of all her artistic and interpersonal expressions.

Marcin Bociański aka Marboc plays an important role in tricity techno scene. The owner of an impressive vinyl collection has recently become a lecturer at Instytut Dźwięku school based in Gdańsk. Over 15 years of experience has brought him to a long-awaited place of sounds where fast, rhythmic drums connect with a subtle background and engaging, industrial bassline. Throughout the years, his productions has been released by labels such as DRVMS LTD., Rhod Records or Coded Platform. It doesn’t matter which slot he gets – Marcin can adjust to the atmosphere of the party by serving either hypnotic warm-up or ruthless closing.

Matt Altman is a young, talented DJ and producer hailing from Philadelphia and based in Brooklyn. Having been recognized in 2015 as one of the winners of the influential EDC New York’s Discovery Project, he’s carving out a career in world of electronic dance music thanks to his unique take on techno. With an ambition to take his music on the road and work with some of the biggest names in the industry, Matt is using his innate talent and acquired skills to build up a following within the underground music scene.

Coming from a drum driven background, he’s currently building up his skill set at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, with a focus on technical capabilities, and hosting his own podcast. Thanks to a tenacious streak, Matt has released EP's on labels such as Robert S' trau-ma, Modular Phaze's Mephyst, and Segler's Dreizehn Schallplatten, amongst others. He has worked with renowned industry names, and played at some of New York’s well known destinations for music lovers.

Closing @ TRESOR - New Faces

As a music maker and DJ, Temudo is part of a new generation of artists whose work relies on the contemporary approach on Techno. The music he makes has the seal of mythical labels such as Soma, Hayes, Modularz, Clergy, Mord, Synewave or Planet Rhythm.

João Rodrigues began his love affair with music early on. After learning the guitar at a young age, he enrolled at a local Jazz school where he studied instruments and musical theory for two years. At 18 he pursued higher education into Sound and Image at ESAD university, quickly bumping into electronic music. Soon after he became enthralled with sequenced music, citing Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Boards Of Canada, Noisia and Extrawelt as some of his early influences.

After completing his degree in 2009, he created his Drum ’n’ Bass project, Medio, that would see him play throughout the country, and even earning him an European mixing prize. Always eager to learn more, João took his musical education further when he began his Masters in Musical Arts and Technology. It was during this period that his interest in Techno music began to spark, and also where his now established moniker, Temudo, was thought out.

As Temudo he joined the Dead Motion Records crew, alongside Low Is and UFO19, carving out his first EP in 2014. Validation from the underground ensued when his “Longe” track was played on the Deep Space Helsinki radio show by Finnish techno stalwart Juho Kusti. In 2016 he put out two EP’s that would see his music spread quickly into the speakers of clubs and festivals. Released on Modulhertz and Planet Rhythm, these tracks were played by the likes of Exium, Umek, Hyperactive, and Emmanuel Top.

Doubling down on his release schedule, he put out four EP’s the next year. The first, on Modulhertz, was pressed on vinyl and included a remix by the legendary The Advent. The second, another on Planet Rhythm, made it into Beatport’s Top 100 Techno Releases. The third, in collaboration with fellow artist VIL, was released on Damon Wild’s renowned Synewave. Artists such as Rødhåd, Adriana Lopez, Blue Hour, and Ben Sims, are just some of the DJ’s to play the tracks. His last EP of the year, released on Affekt Recordings, also roared through the international ranks, with artists like Cleric, Rødhåd, The Advent, and Setaoc Mass playing it out.

Temudo’s most recent creation, with VIL, -2 and Osse, is Hayes, a collective focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. Their first two releases has put them well on the map, with several big guns supporting the tracks. His latest releases in 2019 set the bar higher, participating in Herdersmat Part 19-22, by MORD, having an LP in AWRY and releasing with Nørbak, I will guide Thy Hand EP in Modularz, Mxt (with Moddullar) on Clergy and the anticipated Context EP on Soma. Also, VA's for Suara, Planet Rhythm and Invite's Choice. He is now one of the most important Portuguese techno artists of a new generation.

BIO:
Juho Kusti is a DJ / Producer / Radio Host from Finland. He is best known for his long running radio show, Deep Space Helsinki, which he started in 2009 with his friend Samuli Kemppi. Smooth transitions and rolling rhythms are the backbone of his sets that have taken him to clubs like Berghain, Tresor.Berlin (OFFICIAL) Cassette Club, Under Bron and Le Glazart to name a few. With 20 years of experience, he has also had residencies in Helsinki's Kaiku Club, Ääniwalli and Kuudes Linja before his move to Berlin in 2016. Although slow in production, some of the labels that have put out Juho's music include Semantica Records, MindTripRec and Jamaika Suk's Gradient. His latest venture in the field of techno is his own label No Future But What We Make which he runs with his long-time friend Ville Vähäsaari. With all this, Juho is keeping busy and continues to deliver quality time after time.
