Somaticae returns with its most hip hop tracks made so far. Named after the black metallic rock, this Coltan E.P consist of two recorded takes of a live set made within the same system : a Memphis beat and melody that are fed into various metallic resonators plus a bit of digital feedback on top.

Mantis Radio 108 – Rory St John

Spinning a new leaf for 2026, co:clear presents ‘Imago’ – a pristine collection of modern-classical electronica from @burningpyre. With impeccable vocal offerings from Australian poet 3NDLES5 and Shell Company lead-vocalist Rosabella Allen, this album represents a broadening of horizons for the Newcastle upon Tyne denizen, who also heads up the Eastern Nurseries imprint.

There’s a poignant sensibility throughout this body of work: thoughtful melodic stabs pair delicately with emotive ambience and precise textural specks. It’s a sonic blossoming that lays its roots in atmospheric-ambient divagations, yet over time blooms with enveloping subs and skittering percussion – flowering fresh strains of dub, downtempo and trip-hop.

Created for the Darkfloor website and Mantis Radio program, which aired the mix back in March 2014 (http://darkfloor.co.uk/mantisarchives/). This brings together some of our favourite rhythmic noise tracks. It moves in a rough chronological order from early innovators like Esplendor Geometrico, through the 1990s and up to the present. We've focused on artists and tracks that use elements of techno and electro, and put less emphasis on the many other excellent artists in this scene whose work is closer to dark ambient, breakcore and musique concrete.
