"For this mix I wanted to pull together something that captures where I'm at musically in terms of what I'm listening to regularly, obsessing over and who I'm inspired by. I feel like it's a proper time capsule. I'm very thankful for the dancefloor experiences I had this summer which introduced me to some pretty incredible producers and DJs, ones who are more influenced by nature and the environment surrounding them with these organic, psychedlic textures seeping through their soundscapes. There's a lot of percussive and deep spacey elements in this mix, spanning everything from the trippy and minimal to the sometimes obnoxious style of psytrance."

Ubik is a DJ and artistic programmer known for his open and benevolent vision of music and audiovisual arts, as well as for the ecological and social commitments he has been defending for almost 10 years.

After years as artistic director of the Sarcus Festival, he is now a member of the Sarcus Soundsystem DJ trio with Jacky Jeane and Olga B. Known for their luminous and addictive dub, electro, bass and techno selections, Ubik is also developing another musical facet inspired by post-punk, the quirkier sides of pop and a blend of dub, ambient and idm. It is through this lens that he composed an hour of hazy deep and trippy music for the 6th episode of our lazed mix series.

music_is brings you Brera Som Som by Amandra

Amandra, half head honcho behind Ahrpe Records, goes for subtly evolving and droning atmospheres. With releases spanning both a wide range of electronic genres and record labels: Nous'klaer Audio, AD 93, Tikita or Semantica, just to name a few; the French producer based in Toulouse illustrates with coherence his own vision of acid and tribal rhythms that can be presented with either bright and soft feelings or through a darker, more disturbed path.

Prorokini:
"This one belongs to a phase where I was exploring the sampling side of electronic music. Until that moment I was building 100% of my drums and ideas based on raw drum machines and some processing, then started feeling how it would feel to sample some raw external beats from a drummer for instance and process them my way. I didn't pursue that sampling lead much afterward because it felt like a boring approach to me at that time but a few tracks stood out anyway, like this one, which I'm very proud of. The synths are clearly programmed on the Prophet 08, it can't go any more Dave Smith Instruments than that, if you like them, go grab that synth!"

Brera Som Som EP
As always with Amandra, there is a blend of poetic and soft hidden touch given to the music through carefully crafted personal track names. Brera Som Som is a 4-tracker EP, recorded back when he lived in Warsaw Poland, showcasing the artist's ability to navigate through niche genres. It comes as a double 12" package cherry-topped with four intelligent and eclectic remixes from artists with their own unique identity: Shielding, Whylie, Martinou and Brainwaltzera.
