Dopium Tribe begin to put their ideas to wax after what has been a year in the making. The collective was coined in March 2020, a group of associates joined together with a vow amidst the ritualistic smoke of the 309. Said group of associates is made up of Onirik, Bruno Schmidt and Robin Ordell.

The trio have been moving in similar circles and this won’t be the first release to feature their names side by side. Schmidt & Ordell have made music before as Asper Bothrops, over on their own labels Domesticated and No Time Country. All three artists have previously released together in some way. And if we can look to the positives resulting from the lockdowns, the fruition of Dopium Tribe is one of them. Dawn State return with the Warez House EP from Kidwho! "Leloop Lagoon", the 2nd track on the release, offers up ethereal pads with hypnotic acidy sounds that'll keep you mesmerised on the dance floor.

"'Leploop Lagoon’ is the oldest track on the EP, a cleaned-up version of a rough jam i made around four years back. It takes its name from the Leploop, a quirky semi-modular analogue groovebox of sorts, hand-built in Italy. A very unique and unpredictable machine, it’s on bass duties here as well as providing some percussion sounds via the MPC sampler."

His ‘Supersonic’ EP begins with the depth and elegance of 'Polvere Di Stelle', before travelling through a wormhole to dark and dangerous territories with the slamming ‘Infrared’. Crossing over to the upside down, Jos brings us the stomping, minimal acid groove of ‘Supersonic’, before closing the record with ’Night Vision’ - a techy number built on intricate drum patterns, with haunting melodies and vocals.

DMX Krew has been turning out electronic music from his analog-laden studio since 1994. Having produced over a hundred EP’s and albums, he has built a discography nothing short of prolific. 
He mixes tech savvy with a firm understanding of club music and a penchant for catchy and clever hooks. The Powerplay EP forms a great display of this, and we are elated to offer it as our third release. 

On the A-side, “House Twerp” works up the sparks as a gentle bassline, bubbly synths and bright chords rub against one another. “I love Kevin” continues along the opener’s groovy tone, but with the tempo pitched up a notch, a cheerful brass lead and vintage transposed vocal samples, it full on targets the floor. It is a slab of feel-good machine funk, ideal for brightening a room that is far from having its lights turned on. “Masked Man” on the B-side is the most bare-bones club track of the collection. The twitchy lead is modulated left and right: set to a subtly crushed drum track, its tension is continuously building and falling backwards. Closer and title track “Powerplay” is a sparse and subtle slow-builder. Flanged percussion, menacing chords and a classic roving bass sequence are the central ingredients for this muggy and eerie house cut. 

ALT003 provides a diverse selection, entirely in correspondence with the artist's ability to create within a wide array - from rude electro to synth pop and a lot of the space in between. Ed DMX never really cared much about how his music is categorized, though. And rightfully so, as, even if it indeed tackles many genres, in the end it only sounds like him.

After a long period of significant changes, comes a release that will set a mark on the label, in this pack the tempo has risen up, the usual chords, delays & reverbs this time evoke (till a certain point) an almost extinct sound where techno and trance manage to go hand in hand in a stylized and subtle way that in today´s field is hard to find. This release, aside from being the artist's first solo reference, also marks an evolution of the label's sound towards new horizons without losing the essence that has characterized the brand from the beginning.

R&S presents a killer 12″ from Instanbul duo Bärtaub – composed of Mutlu San & Batu Guler.

The duo count heavyweights like Ricardo Villalobos and [a:rpia:r] as fans as well as R&S’s own Renaat Vandepapeliere for whom the duo contributed a track for Vandepapeliere’s RVTrax imprint.

Crafting roughly hewn grooves from analogue synths and drum machines, the duo conjure up stripped back machine funk blending intricate rhythms and sublime textures of into an intoxicating dancefloor confection.

As well as their globe trotting DJ exploits, San & Guler are primarily stalwarts of their local electronic music community, leaving an indelible mark on the Istanbul music scene over the years, whether kickstarting the legendary Indigo Club in 2004 with longtime associate Onur Özer, creating soundtracks for movies or innovative sound design all from their Circuit Room studio their influence is undeniable and far reaching.

Bärtaub - Ya Betta Jam

Legendary UK dub techno pioneers Glyn 'Bigga' Bush and Richard Whittingham aka Rockers Hi-Fi, originally formed in 1992 in Birmingham. Rockers Hi-Fi gained a cult following in the early years of dub-techno and soundsystem culture with their psychedelic, bass-heavy blend of dub, house, techno, beats and drum & bass.

Rockers Hi-Fi first met when Dick was putting on nights in Brum whilst working as a carpenter, after Glyn needed work doing on his house, the pair got chatting. One thing led to another and they eventually set up a studio in Glyn's living room, where the majority of the first Rockers Hi-Fi album was recorded. Following a signing at Island Records in '93, the pair expanded to a studio above a piano store in the centre of Birmingham. 

A lot of these tracks presented here were influenced by musical outfits like Mo Wax, Metalheadz, Shut Up & Dance, Scientist, and King Tubby. Glyn's and Dick's music also heavily sampled 90's hip-hop, and the classic New York house sound i.e. Kenny Dope, Bobby Konders, Nervous Records & Strictly Rhythm. Not forgetting the Birmingham Diskery, a record store where the pair found plenty inspiration amongst film soundtracks, spoken word LP's and other obscure records which became part of the Rockers sound.

We're pleased to present a selection of tracks from their formative years, mainly encompassing the club ready, dancefloor centred part of their discography. This reissue LP includes a mixture of sought after bangers, as well as some lesser known tracks which people may not have heard.
