Long Garden Avenue - About Time

The hugely talented Manu Riga joins forces with the wonderfully gifted vocalist Fe Malefiz on their track, Forgotten which comes backed up with a top notch remix from Mark Found. Over the last several months we have seen Manu collaborate with various other artists, from which some stunning results have flourished. This time around is no different as Fe is clearly the right voice for this sound. Manu is a Bonzai Progressive stalwart and an all out work horse, his attention to detail and quality is second to none and the proof is in his works. Fe is no stranger to these shores, she has worked with Dark Soul Project and Mathov on a number of occasions with great support coming in from all angles. But, we'll let the music do the talking here and remember to keep an eye on Manu as he will have much more coming in the months ahead which we are very excited about.

The Original Mix intros with a real smooth progressive sound as nice punchy kicks are met with an array of subtle percussions that add lots of weight to the groove. A deep reverberating bass sits on the low end with a menacing tease as the percussions become much more prominent. We get the first taste of Fe's vocal and right away we become mesmerized by the subtlety and richness of her voice. On the break, accompanying the beautiful vocal lies a melancholic narrative as rich strings swell up and take us back into the main groove where a cool, more jagged bass comes through. The track takes us on an intriguing journey that throws up many twists and turns filled with melody and emotion. An epic slice of prog that will definitely appeal to many.

The Dub Version picks up the track without the main vocal from the Original. A captivating sound filled with deep, dark and emotional elements with subtle melodic phrases that caress your soul. Manu has left in little snippets of the vocal which really give the Dub its own characteristic. Superb stuff yet again from this guy.

Mark Found steps up to the remix desk with his Red Heart Remix. Very much on form, Mark is fresh off the back of his remix for Blufeld's A World Less Ordinary which charted well across many sites. Prior to this he had a run of appearances on many compilations with the most recent being Bonzai's WMC 2015 package. We hope to see more from this guy in the future so stay tuned for more. The remix intros with a surreal sequence as strange voices are joined by eerie sounds and a cool rising arp that dominates the sound. Chunky kicks and crispy hats deliver a solid groove as a deep bass probes its way through. Big stabby synths litter the groove and are soon joined by more menacing, distorted synths that build a wall of sound. At the midway point the break unleashes a myriad of sounds that raid the senses before we get thrust right back into the thick of it for the duration. Top notch from Mark yet again.

Manu Riga - A Sense Of Hope (original Mix)

The title track, The Fallen - which draws inspiration from the heroes who fought against the Ottoman Empire, embodies an Eastern flavour throughout that will send shivers down your spine. The track intros with a punchy kick and an atmospheric background filled with sweeping sounds and cool FX that etch out a surreal Persian theme. The bassline rolls in early on and settles us into a solid workout that relentlessly powers on. Rich vocals spread across the sound throughout as Manu delivers one of his trademarks alongside a tight drum arrangement. A wonderfully sharp Turkish Saz comes into play on the lead and transforms the groove brilliantly as a subtle acid line weaves its way into the track. The break focuses in on soft melodies that dance along on a smooth arp alongside that stunning voice before we get thrust back into the main groove. The track drives on in a deep progressive groove that captivates with a seemingly Twin Peaks-esque vibe making this a definite must have track.

The Fallen

Manu Riga steps up to the desk first with his Ethnotized Remix and yet again we find out just how talented this guy is. As well as knocking out quality remixes and original works, he is currently in the midst of creating an album which we hope will be dropping sometime in early 2016. So far the standard is extremely high and we have no doubt that he will blow us away once more, we can't wait for this one. His last release was for Bonzai's 500th where he was allocat6ed no less than three slots which he filled with the superb A Sense of Hope, As We Become One with Matt Holliday and a remix alongside Matt on Phi Phi's Hiccup. The remix intros with a superb punchy kickdrum and is soon joined by a probing bassline that hypnotizes the mind. Cool rhythmic structures form up with crispy hats and sharp claps alongside a solid Manu-esque tight drum arrangement. The bass dominates the sound and takes us deeper into progressive with every key change. On the break we get a subtle synth driven melody that paves the way for the most amazing female voice that will send shivers down your spine. Another excellent Manu Riga cut that will tear up any floor no doubt.

BP5052015 Youngen - The Long Way Home (Manu Riga's Ethnotized Remix)

Belgian maestro Manu Riga aka Adriaan Baussens kicks off 2016 with Indigenous Rights which is taken from his much anticipated forthcoming studio album. 2015 was indeed a bumper year for this guy and we'd need quite a few paragraphs to cover everything as he was a very busy man. Aside from an exhaustive release schedule which included several original works as a solo artist and a few collaborative projects, he also churned out a raft of remixes and featured on a lot of compilations including Bonzai Progressive's 500th release - Bonzai and Friends 500 - where he appeared three times with his own A Sense Of Hope, with Matt Holliday on As We Become One and on remix duty alongside Matt on Phi Phi's Hiccup. Indigenous Rights intros with a nice chunky kicks and rhythmic hat alongside a fading in bass pulse. We get a glimpse of some beautiful melody from the superb vocal snippets and swirling pads and strings that mesmerize throughout. The pulsing bass is soon joined by a much grittier but very subtle wub wub bass that works perfectly within the track. The track takes a short break to prepare for one of the stars of the show, those stunning vocals. As the title suggests we get treated to some of the most beautiful chants that takes us up to the main break where a powerful poetic vocal rings out and sends shivers down your spine. A very strong sound on this one with a superb solid progressive groove, perfect for those late night sets.

Indigenous Rights (preview)

We welcome Gai Barone back to Bonzai Progressive and he has brought along another one of his deep progressive creations for our listening pleasure. When In June is Gai's latest offering and comes backed up with four top notch remixes from none other than Belgian stalwarts Airwave and Manu Riga, Australia's Audio Noir and Slovakia's Crocy. Throw in Gai's Italian roots and we have a hotbed of international talent that knows how to work a track.
Progressive guru Manu Riga steps up to the remix desk and churns out yet another top quality cut for our aural pleasure. The remix sets off with a nice chunky kick drum with cool hats on the offset and an extra cool drum pattern in the background. A fantastic pulsing bassline gives the track a nice drive that will easily get the dance floors moving. A wonderful lead synth riff delivers a nice touch to the sound and freshens up the groove beautifully. Out of nowhere a superb cascading arp fades in and out of the sound and takes us up to the break where a cacophony of strings take over. The icing on the cake though comes in the form of a stunningly rich vocal that sends shivers down your spine before we head back into the main groove. Definitely one of Manu's best remixes here, lots going on that will bring new experiences with each listen. This one is not to be missed.



Gai Barone - When In June (Manu Riga Remix)

Widely regarded as a top class artist by a panel of peers across the globe, Manu Riga steps up to the remix desk with his Darkside Remix. A hugely talented and gifted artist, Adriaan Baussens has dedicated himself to music for a great number of years, this has resulted in countless tracks and remixes that continue to garner support for this Belgian native. The last year has been a tough one for this guy, but still he has managed to wow us with his works, and to top it all off he - along with Bonzai Progressive - will proudly present his much anticipated studio album, coming in around June 2016. We say thank you to Manu Riga, and in the meantime check out this superb remix. Taking a detour into the darker side of prog, Manu takes us along for the ride and right from the get go you can tell it's gonna be epic. A swelling bass ebbs and flows as punchy kick drums are lined up against sharp hi hats. Manu's sublime signature sound oozes out of the track as tight drums layer up into a solid rhythmic groove as the progressive elements evolve. On the break we get some cool synths alongside a deep sinister sounding vocal before crashing right back into full on mode. Another fine example of the diversity this guy can show and a definite must have track.

Platunoff - Two Faces (Manu Riga & Mimi Erotique Remix)

Don't Stop Me Now is a perfectly apt title as it is the manifestation of the Unstoppable force that is Manu Riga. Heading straight for the dancefloor, this one will definitely get things moving with its expertly crafted drums and upbeat tech vibe. The bassline sets the tone perfectly as you find yourself drawn to its infectious groove. Swirling pads create a wonderful atmosphere as we head into the break where a hypnotic arpeggio takes over dishing out cool melodies as it goes. A definite must have for any playlist.

Don't Stop Me Now (Preview with fades)

The ever present Manu Riga delights with another one of his sublime remixes with its groovy beat and surreal, mystical sound. As with previous remixes and originals, Manu Riga never lets up on the quality front and even though his style has changed to be directed more towards the dance floors this is even more true. Good things continue for Manu Riga in 2016, a new EP - Unstoppable (October)as well as numerous remixes and future original material are all still in the pipeline. His craftsmanship is still very much revered by his peers and he remains an inspiration to artists and music fans alike. His radioshow Escape continues to gather pace delivering the very best sounds every month on Progressive Beats. Stay tuned for more, there's plenty to come. The remix here intros with a solid kick drum to get things moving as warm basses start to fade up alongside cool arpeggio sequences. As we are lured into the deep prog vibe, sweeping accordion pads add wonderful textures on top of the infectious groove. The break throws up some very nice vocals giving the track a lot of character and depth. An absolute stomper once again from this guy that will sit perfectly in any set.

Double Jay

John Lead: Double Jay (Manu Riga Remix)

The ever inspiring Manu Riga is up next with his Hybrid Remix and once again we are given a masterclass in arrangement and in music. 2016? What a year for this guy, his popular album Surrounded was followed by the even more popular Surrounded Remixed, and let's not forget the multitude of remixes such as this. An ever growing fan base is testament to this guy's talent and, thankfully, we won't have to wait too long for his next slice which takes him in a different direction in style and will delight his fans and jocks alike. The remix intros with a nice punchy kick drum that delivers an instant dancefloor vibe. Crispy hi hats and Manu-esque drum patterns get the rhythm moving while club-style female vocals sing out alongside an intriguing spoken narrative. A deep droning bass takes centre stage and draws you in with a little help from some cool synth, arps and FX. The break pulsates drawing in a more intense vibe on this deep and moody tech monster. Another top notch effort that will most definitely not go unnoticed.

Mutate

Jeeves - Mutate (Manu Riga's Hybrid Remix)

Manu Riga is up first with his Progrezz Remix and in true Manu Riga fashion, he knocks it outta the park. An extremely busy and in demand artist, this guy remains consistent in his delivery of top quality sounds. His last outing - Unstoppable proved to be popular on the floors and various charts and we've no doubt this remix will follow suit. The remix definitely goes straight to the floors with a nice rhythmic drum arrangement along with cool FX and a subtle underlying melody. The track builds nicely with the bassline shoring up the dancey groove and the tougher edged synths keeping things moving. The break is where the magic happens here as a beautifully serene vocal captivates the mind and draws you in deeper before those chunky kicks take us back into full on mode. A must have no doubt.

Distant Muse

Matan Caspi -Distant Muse (Manu Riga Progrezz Remix)

Prolific Belgian artist and Bonzai stalwart Adriaan Bausenns aka Manu Riga is up next with his Cosmic Bells Remix and proves yet again that he is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to creating masterpieces. Adriaan kicks off his 2017 in style with this one and if 2016 is anything to go by then we're in for another superb ride with his productions. With a very much respected repertoire among his peers and an ever expanding support base we've no doubt he'll deliver in the only way he knows how, with sheer quality. Here he dishes out a solid progressive mover that will certainly gain attention on the floors. The intro boasts a pumping kick drum and sharp hi hat combo alongside rising bass tones and some tough FX that generate a tangible intensity. Cool synth hits litter the sound as the track takes on its hypnotic prowess. Cosmic vibes run through the sound with the use of those superb synths and sublime pads making this a track you will not want to miss.

Manu Riga is back for remix duties with another one of his sublime efforts that blow us away every time. His Dreamz Remix is simply stunning and will leave you wanting more and more. So far this year Manu Riga has already delivered us some quality cuts in the form of the outstanding Your Silent Cries as well as a few remixes. Currently he is working on new material with an exciting new collaboration also in the works, we look forward to that one in the near future. Here he gives us a solid progressive house workout with the original melody given prominence. A tight Manu Riga style drum section delivers a flowing rhythm while a lush bass fills us with warmth. Swirling pads etch out a rich tapestry of sound that blend effortlessly with the soft melodies as that drum arrangement gets the feet working to the floor. Superb stuff once again from the Belgian maestro.

This is The Place

Our very own Manu Riga steps up for remix duties with his Revision Remix which gives us another dose of his special progressive brand. This outing comes hot on the heel of his last effort alongside Rick Pier O'Neil aka RPO and their fantastic Terra Veteris which also features the stunning vocal talent of Mandy Jones. You could say we have become accustomed to Manu Riga's style, but he always pushes his sound that little bit extra with every release and remix. He has a knack of adding the subtlest of changes that give his tracks an edge, putting them firmly on top of the pile. Lots more to come from this guy so well worth keeping an eye and an ear on. The remix here opens with a solid, punchy kick drum and bright hi hat combi alongside a deep droning bass that sets the mood for this journey into progressive. The pads deliver an intensity in the track that is tangible while sharp synths cut through the lower frequencies. Subtle melodic arpeggios rise up accompanied by fleeting synth hits creating a multi layered and colourful arrangement. Super stuff once again that will most definitely appeal to many.

Astrid

Alex Nemec & Forniva - Astrid (Manu Riga Revision Remix)

Manu Riga delivers his superb Dark Soul remix of Tonic, and once again we get to hear his beautifully crafted sounds weave a deep progressive melodic tech vibe. A hugely respected artist on the scene, Belgian Adriaan Baussens has gone through somewhat of a transformation in style while retaining his meticulous attention to detail. His last outing here - Fires In The Sky performed very well having featured on Beatport as well as showing up on countless playlists and charts. Manu continues to delight with his tight DJ sets on his Escape show on Progressive Beats where he also has a hand in hosting events and lining up new DJ's. We love his new direction into deep progressive tech and no doubt we'll be hearing more soon. Here on the remix we're in for a solid ride deep into progressive tech. Nice and chunky kick drums lead the way as dark bubbling basses lurk in the low end. Tribal chants litter the sound as haunting pads fade in creating a wonderfully rich atmosphere. The layered basslines power the groove effortlessly, keeping us rooted to the dancefloor. The darker elements of the groove dominate the break where a sinister lead comes in briefly before we head back to full on mode. A fantastic slice that will not disappoint.

Tonic Ep

Tonic (Manu Riga Dark Soul Remix)

Belgian music maestro, the seriously talented Manu Riga aka Adriaan Baussens is back on remix duties and, once again we're blown away with the vision and skills this guy shows. Manu Riga is responsible for a string of top tracks to come out of Bonzai Progressive in the last several years. His last outing here was on remix duties for Gabriel West and Ricardo Piedra's Tonic EP which followed the hugely popular Fires In The Sky. We're loving the new direction he has taken and we've no doubt his new style is making waves across the scene. The remix here intros with a powerful, gritty stab before punchy kick drums join in alongside crispy bright hi hats. A solid rhythm ensues that moves us, locking us into the groove. A dark yet vibrantly textured sound builds with the addition of various synths and a deep underlying bassline. Swirling noise and mesmeric pads litter the background as a beautiful, rich vocal comes through. The break unleashes the vocal against those encompassing pads before the beats return in tandem with a dark plucky arpeggio and synth stabs. An absolute masterpiece of proggy tech that will dominate the peak time slot no doubt.

Cirao

Cirao (Manu Riga Remix)

We welcome back the hugely talented Belgian maestro Manu Riga aka Adriaan Baussens with his latest effort titled Oscuridad. This one is the latest quality cut which adds to a string of top notch releases we've seen from Adriaan over the last several years. During this time, he has steered his musical output in a different direction, taking a much punchier, club orientated stance with melodic techno in mind while retaining a progressive sound. His sound is championed by many and crosses genres to become a universal sound which has also inspired a new generation of music producers. We're certain that this one will blow you away and if the original wasn't enough we've got four equally impressive remixes to whet the appetite with something for all kinds of sets. Enjoy the music.

Manu's Original Mix opens with a deep bass drone and fading up arpeggios. A solid, thumping kick drum is unleashed as the drums layer up bringing a cool flowing rhythm. An intensity builds in the track and on the break this tension winds up beautifully climaxing with a driving melodic groove that will keep the floors rocking.

Martin Merkel returns to BP, this time on remix duties and, once again he proves just how talented he is. A long-standing artist in the electronic music scene, Martin has churned out his share of quality cuts. He appeared twice on our Bonzai Basiks imprint and has also seen a recent release on Vesta as well as a raft of labels over the years. Martin delivers a punchy progressive groover with deep rumbling basses and a serious pumping kick. A wonderfully crafted slice that provides a solid, driving groove, perfect fodder for the club.

Jesper Mauerhoff is back at Bonzai Progressive on remix duties. We last caught him over on our Green Martian imprint with Sputnik and we're delighted to have him back. A talented and diverse artist, Jesper has seen releases on several other labels including Vesta Records. Here Jesper gives us a real treat with his remix going deeper while keeping us on our toes on the floor. A full-on prog monster is at work here and is not to be missed.

Facto debuts here with a quality remix that will most definitely grab a lot of attention. A veteran DJ of more than 20 years, it's only in the last few years that he started to produce his own music. Already he is getting recognition from all quarters and he has seen releases on Vesta Records, Conjured Records and Mystic Carousel to name a few. On the remix here, Facto takes us on a sublime journey deep into progressive. Mesmerizing and intriguing with a full-bodied groove laden with depth and edge, top notch stuff. 

Emilio Bsousi debuts with his remix which exudes a sound so rich and steeped in emotion you would be hard pushed to believe it was only his second release ? the first being Reminiscence on Vesta Records. Born in Spain but residing in Beirut, Emilio has been at the heart of the Lebanese club scene for many years, wowing the party goers with his tight sets. Great to have him here at BP. Here Emilio brings out the emotion of the track beautifully with carefully crafted sequences, blending effortlessly into a deep and hypnotic ride.

Born in 1979, Adriaan Baussens fell in love with music at a young age. Growing up with his grandparents he was exposed to his grandfather’s huge collection of instrumental music including Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre,  and many more. At the Age of 12 a teacher discovered that Adriaan had the ability to play the melodies of songs he heard instantly on a recorder flute but when his grandfather bought him his first Casio keyboard things started to happen.  A Adriaan's obsession for synthesizers led him to learn all he could about sound design and production and there wasn't a day that went by without him being in his homemade studio, absorbing the multitude of possibilities from synthesis. He has a great love for Enigma which made him create chill out music and became the building blocks for the 2012 album "Sad in Joy" on Bonzai Elemental under the moniker Twins in Mind.
 
In 2005 a friend challenged him to make a House track. . "Good Feeling" was the result which became a hugely successful track and was remixed by Dr Kucho! The track went on to sell out in no time and ended up in the Belgian Dance Charts . Manu Riga was born.
 
The name Manu Riga originated from shuffling the letters of Gary Numan, another of his idols, and whilst he enjoyed success with 'Good Feeling' under this guise he felt this was not the music he should making. After struggling to write a successor to 'Good Feeling' he looked for inspiration in order to create the commercial sound he was looking for. At this time music by Pole folder & CP, DJ Shadow and Sasha & Digweed was opening him up to a new world of sound, much closer to the sound he wanted to create. In 2005 the track Taï Chi Girl, was refused by record labels which led Adriaan to put Manu Riga to rest for a while.  During this time Adriaan composed several soundtracks for movies and continued to create the smooth, chilled vibes of the Twins in Mind sound.
 
Almost 5 years later in 2009, after a talk with Laurent Veronnez (Airwave), he decided to send Tai Chi Girl to Bonzai Records. The track still sounded fresh and Bonzai was happy to sign it to their flagship label Bonzai Progressive giving Manu Riga a new home. In 2010 an artist deal was signed and since then a huge amount of releases and remixes followed.
 
Original tracks such as "No Matter What", "The Darkness Within" and the successful “Cimmerian" made the Manu Riga sound well known in the underground scene. Remixes for the late great Quadran (Philip Van Mullem), Gai Barone, Art of Trance, Moshic and many others, put the Manu Riga sound into many sets across the world and marked him as a highly respected producer. With over 40 remixes and 14 original EP’s it has been quite a productive 5 years for Manu Riga. 
 
in 2015 Manu Riga started a collaboration project with Matt Holliday (as Matt & Manu), releasing two very well received EP's, "You are Contagious" and "Submerged Needs", alongside remixes for Dark soul Project,  Phi Phi and Matan Caspi. On 25th of July the duo performed a back to back set on the Bonzai Stage at Europe's biggest festival, Tomorrowland. Every month they host their own radio show Ethnoscience on progressive.beats.org which is where Manu Riga also has his well received podcast Escape.
 
Another collaboration, this time with his close friend Alex Vidal, is already promising to be a big hit with the release of their first EP, When Worlds Collide - which will be followed up soon as they continue to work together.
 Currently (Summer 2015), Adriaan is working on his first Manu Riga album which is planned for the first half of 2016 but in the meantime he will continue to work on more collaborations as well as nurturing his Twins In Mind and Long Garden Avenue guises.
