Do The Dilla (DTD), a concept created in memory of J-Dilla. 

Food for ya Soul & Do The Right Print has joined forces to organize a special event for the 5th year death anniversary of James Dewitt Yancey aka J-Dilla. 

A DTD party will be held on Thursday February 10th 2011 at the Loft Club in Lausanne with DJ Lefto from the famous Blue Note Records label as special guest. 

As a bonus, a record with 11 exclusive remixes from Jaydee made by beatmakers from Switzerland, France & Belgium will be given away to the audience (limited edition). This mix will also be available on free download. The Loft Club's entry will be free until 00:30 in order to fit with the Do The Dilla concept.

With the worldwide success of our Soulection Compilation Volume One which featured some of the most promising producers of our generation two years ago in January 2011, it was essential to create volume two. It's amazing to reflect on our progression and how far we've come. Here we are 27 releases later with our first official record! It has almost been a year since we started to compile this project. Since day one we've known that we would get to this very point. 
 

The Time in Between captures genre-bending compositions from creative an entire year, this compilation delivers a timeless journey through future bass, boom bap, glitchy uptempo soulful melodies and then some. Soulection releases the Time in Between putting a time stamp on the unique musical epoch that is 2013. By serving up genre-vague and undefinable sounds to the people first, the label maintains and reinforces the relevance and need for this timeless sound. 
 

These specific artists are all Soulection affiliated and we feel that every track on here has a "timeless' feel to it. In fact, we feel that this record is one that you can play years and years down the line and still get that original feeling of when you first heard it. There tracks have no expiration date; styles that have no flow. This record was created and compiled to change your perspective on music and the future of where we are headed.

When Ta-ku recently came out to LA we had the chance to finally meet and connect after years of pure digital connection. Ta-ku by far is an individual (beyond just an artist) who we respect so much as a person aside of his great talents as a musician. In fact, Ta-ku is someone that has pure role model characteristics. Earlier this week, Ta-ku pointed out that we just reached 10K LIKES on our Facebook page and mentioned how he had started on this track that was dedicated to a man named Trey who recently passed away from cancer. Trey was a true Ta-ku and Soulection supporter and in response Ta-ku created this track. So with this story in mind, this one is for Trey! Shouts to Trey, his family, and friends! Make sure to download this and feel the energy.
