Opening track Cadenza explores an enigmatic African theme built on steady percussion and hazy vocals. Adding dramatism and nostalgia with whirl-winding synths, the construction reaches a floating peak point, evolving into a shimmering crescendo.

Gaivota plays with guitar clips and vocal loops to create an atmosphere of fragility and sentimental isolation. A solitary kick holds the track together and imprints structure onto the predominantly wavy melody, making it a great build up track.

Named after a North American Native tribe, Meskwaki steps things up with a stronger rhythm accompanying the wistful tribal vocals and undulating synths. Powerful percussive reverbs and low pitched drums create a seeming sense of calm, only to steer into a masterful drop, accompanied by avian chirps and trills.

"Djolée is delivering a more energetic version of 'Never No Right', a track included on Yamil's LP 'POL Talks' and released on December as first reference of his brand new record label Pieces Of Life

Based in Buenos Aires, Nicolas Marino a.k.a 'Djolée' is artist and producer influenced by melodic, organic and afro house sounds that has quickly established as one of the fresh names to follow on the Argentine scene. In a short time he has already signed his new references in prestigious labels like MoBlack or Sudam. 

By turning up the bmps, adding a more plucky touch and composed with organic drums you will find a house song with afro influences that is perfect for raising the temperature on any dance floor around the world. Track will be available on all stores on April 17th. As usual, the artwork is handmade by our graphic artist @wompaint and it's also a remix of the original cover of  'POL Talks' so the design and the music walks hand in hand. 

Yamil is steadily forging his reputation as a DJ, Producer, Label Owner and Artist with a unique musical visioning. Currently based in Madrid his personal sound travels across the globe creating special moments through his original music or dj sets. His latest reference has just seen the light under respected L.A. based label, Sol Selectas. The song is called 'Ancestors', released about two weeks ago and it's already climbing the Beatport charts.

This is the third release from the young but impressive records label Pieces of life, during the next months we can expect several quality releases by established and newcomer artist. There is no doubt that after these first steps, we can continue waiting for music from the heart far from trends and fashions."

Mirror for the Sun is a 14-track cycle of tempos, moods, and hums exploring different facets of a softly solar energy. The compilation departs from the Souq’s signature sound, infusing it with a rotation of new elements. Niki Sadeki’s curation brings more of an uncanny Berlin-style voltage to the label’s earthy tradition, shaped by her own learned perception of deep house. The result is a cosmic and crunchy experimental blend, with mingling moments of downbeat drama and upbeat glow. 
When seen through a mirror, the sun’s light only reflects fragments of a fuller picture. Mirror for the Sun echoes this sentiment. Each track contributes an angle to an overall picture of sentience and connection. The 19 featured artists include returners like Zuma Dionys and MoM, and newcomers like Madmotormiquel, Geju, Landhouse Krink and Niju. 
We couldn’t think of a more suited selector than Vancouver based Niki Sadeki, whose vision has refracted across an impressive stream of radio shows, guest mixes, and podcasts over the years. Niki’s ability to musically embark a living-room or a car ride as much as she can a dance-floor is a quality we prize right now more than ever.
This compilation will return annually to Souq, shedding its skin and renewing itself along the way.
