Jonas Saalbach's prolific career in electronic music has seen more than a few milestones. From youthful beginnings as a live-only performer over dozens of eps on premier labels to the release of three studio albums and the inception of his own imprint Radikon in 2018, the Berlin producer has pursued his musical vision with uncompromising fervour. 'Headlights', an 11-track album set for release on his own imprint, feels like the summit of a decade-long climb to the highest echelons of electronic dance music.

With 'Headlights', Jonas has created his most personal and mature work to date, free of the criteria of producing for an external label. His newest coup is a no-frills translation from mind to melody that showcases the inner workings of Jonas' auditory universe in the most honest way possible. Nostalgic, longing, introspective and wildly emotional, 'Headlights' strips away all distractions; a pure love for dance music is all that remains.

Once a young producer who hypnotized stages around the globe with his energy and joie de vivre, Jonas today has crafted a platform that takes his art to the next level. After a decade in dance music, 'Headlights' is the pinnacle of a musical journey and perhaps the most powerful achievement in a storied career.

The always on point Dear Deer Records fire out another fascinating EP, this time coming from Belgian artist Paradoks. A young talent who already has released on the likes of Parquet Recordings, Carton-Pate Records and Timeless Moment, this 2 tracker Ep 'Mirage' further shows how he excels when it comes to deep, powerful, melodic rhythms.

The title track opens up and is deep from the off, with spiritual vibes and eerie vocals working alongside a tantalising melody and sombre pads. Second Track Passage meanwhile is more driven and forceful, built on a crescent of tension and perfect for the peak of the night, to really have the dancefloor locked in suspense.

"Paul Angelo and Don Argento return to Tash’s Movement Recordings with a new EP entitled ‘Dear Cave’. Hailing from Cyprus, the much loved duo have become a core part of the Greek imprint since making their debut in 2017 with a contribution to the label’s ‘Technical Progress’ Vol. 7 collection. Paul and Don have since gone on to appear an additional four times while also finding a home on Beat Boutique, Dopamine Music, Sound Avenue and Soundteller Records. Now following a stunning remix of Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic's 'Rumors' the duo lands back on Movement with a three track artist showcase.

Beginning with the title track 'Dear Cave’ Paul and Don continue to explore the dark progressive minded ethos which has made them such in demand artists. Energetic and fluid, punchy beats and perfectly contoured bass unite for a robust low end. Dramatic pulses and piercing stabs add mightily to the rhythmic core as layers of percussion build momentum with each successive loop. Enticing yet mysterious, ghostly atmospheres take the narrative into a tense break, melting down to an arcane rumble before a tasteful build cues a powerful drop.

'Absence' follows suit with a more minimalistic yet equally mystical approach. Acidic rhythms carry the rolling groove while haunting atmopheres sweep across the stereo field. Once again drama and tension are at a premium here, as a timely break and tasteful modulation resets the groove for a chugging finale.

The third and final selection 'Day Walker' finds the duo lightening the mood just a touch to round out the release. It’s meaty kick and rolling underbelly provide a perfect balance of warmth and drive. Playful arps layer the commanding groove as astral effects and icy overlays steal the air. The narrative shifts with a second act of broken beats, transferring energy into a short break before a rush of noise sparks a smooth and reflective final act. It caps off a welcome return to Movement Recordings for Paul and Don, a production duo who continue to operate at their creative peak."

We start the series of remixes and remakes to celebrate the 10 years of the Morttagua moniker from the Timeless Moment label boss. And to start the series with a blast , we bring you brand new Interpretations of Morttagua & Gaby Endo ethnical classic “Urania”. 

The first Remix comes from the absolute Progressive master Stan Kolev.  With his trademark dark baselines and atmospheres, Stan makes a powerful dance floor smasher as usual. He geniously adds a beautiful new riff melody on top of the original ethnical harmonies and vocals, making his version even more special. 

Gai Barone returns with a version of Urania that was previously only played it privately. When remixing Urania back in 2017, Gai Barone made two Remixes, one that was released and a special second interpretation that was only used as a secret dance floor weapon. Now a wider audience will be finally able to listen to the alternate masterpiece version of his Remix for Urania.

Fur Coat’s Oddity label starts 2021 with a fresh edition of the acclaimed various artists “Odd Echoes Vol.4”. This instalment showcases some artists that are already known to the label, as well as many new additions to the family.

Fur Coat’s commitment to their label over the last few years has seen the imprint amass a dedicated following and an ever growing list of respected and lauded releases. Utilising their Various Artists compilations, the duo have unearthed some extremely exciting talent in this world and given emerging artists a platform to exhibit their craft.

Diving into the package we are greeted with the melodic and emotional sounds that Oddity has their recognisable stamp. Its clear though that each artist involved has developed their own signature sound and presents something unique to the VA. The first half is formed of well crafted tracks which ease us into the sound. Tracks the build and develop over time and help to kick start out musical exploration.

In true Oddity style the second half of the package leans towards darker and more driving pieces. Casting the listeners mind to the dancefloors which the tracks were meant to be played on. Its a VA formed of 21 original tracks mostly from first timers on the label, that all together solidify the identity of the series and sound of Oddity.
