Astral Records continues a strong start by welcoming Paul Angelo and Don Argento to the label for their first EP. Hailing from Cyprus, the much loved duo have been regular contributors to parent label Movement Recordings, having appeared there seven times since making their debut in 2017. Often walking the line between melodic house and techno and progressive house, Paul and Don have become fixtures in Beatport's sales charts of late with a string of impressive outings via Clubsonica Records, Timeless Moment and UV. Now making a welcome debut on Astral, the duo presents a three-track showcase entitled 'Icarus'. 

Working well with the label's ethos Paul and Don lean closer to the melodic house and techno side of their studio repertoire. The title selection 'Icarus' sets the tone with a pulsating, hypno groove and a simple yet foreboding arp. Stripped and tense in equal measure, the duo build drama across the first act with rising modulation, percussive splashes and a backdrop of prophetic pads. Opening up during the main break, a wave of atmospheric swells rises momentarily, gently teasing the senses before getting pulled back in favour of the deliberate groove and meditative structures.

Pretty much all of us know the movie “Inception”, right? Habischman wanted to create a song following this concept so when he bumped into Brydon Hulse from Skymachine they got into the studio and magic happened.

A Dream Within A Dream was recorded in London with a HA-872 microphone and mixed with an old analog desk, giving this characteristic sound to the song, after a 1-hour jam between Habischman and Brydon. Isn’t this magic?

Remixing this gem, Edu Imbernon in an unexpected journey to the 80’s sounds blended with flying melodies and a huge breakdown.

Aera is the second name for remixing. He loves the idea of dreams within dreams. Actually the idea of the main synth sound came to his mind one morning while waking up. It was only a matter of recording it!

Closing the release, a special 4/4 edit of the original for the late-night sounds lovers.

Following the huge success of his debut album ‘Caligo’, Spor has hooked up with powerhouse producer Memtrix to present ‘Memtrix & Spor: Darkest Hours’ forthcoming on Sotto Voce/Lifted Music.  The track will be released on 14th September. 

‘Darkest Hours’ begins with a stream of deep cinematic melodies progressing into a melting pot of cutting-edge bass sonics and crisp drum grooves; accompanied by ambient vocals. The B-side entitled ‘Super Trace’ unfolds as a dark roller combined with sharp percussion sounds, certain to get a dance floor moving.

With over 1 million views on his track ‘All You Are’ on YouTube and over 5 releases under his belt at the age of 19, this is the start of a long journey in the world of drum & bass for Memtrix. "Working with Spor has definitely been an eye opening and insightful experience,” he says, “but I think more than that it's just been really fun. It always seems really natural and fluent in the studio and we bounce ideas off each other really well I think. Obviously it's an absolute privilege for me to work with such a household name who's work I respect so much, and this release is something I'm really proud of and excited about."

Drew is a dj / mix technician: He see music as a jigsaw without an image, he can intricately fuse music together and instanly know were that piece of music will fit into the jigsaw he's building.This does not necessarily have to be house music it goes for all genres of music which makes his sets distinctive. Drew has always had a love of music but his fascination with dj mixing started in the early 80's with electro scene and the fact u could manipulate music by mixing 2 tracks together had him hooked. Which lead him to get 2 record players and a hand full of electro albums,so in the late 80's when house music came along it was a natural progression and that's why to this day his love and passion for it still runs through his veins.........
