Balkan Connection unveils one of the label's biggest releases to date from Kamilo Sanclemente & Andre Moret. Hailing from Colombia and Brazil respectively this is a first time collaboration from the duo. Kamilo needs little introduction to seasoned progressive music fans. The Cali resident has been a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren for some time. Meanwhile Andre, while early on in his career has already found a home on Soundteller Records and Tenampa Recordings. The duo's first ever collaborations hold much promise and come alongside heavyweight remixes from Petar Dundov and Arnas D.

Beginning with the title track, Kamilo and Andre craft a pure progressive cut with smooth lines and subtle emotive leanings. Warm and perfectly contoured, the groove flows beautifully as dulcet tones and wispy atmospherics build a melodic narrative. Clustered claps and angelic pads initiate a stripped down second act where emotional tension rises before astral waves melt down to a shimmering sizzle, perfectly setting up a euphoric build and tasteful drop. The companion piece `Nino`follows a similar sonic ethos with playful, rhythmic tones and a warm, joyous glow throughout. Perhaps a touch more heartfelt than it`s predecessor, the main break while sparse proves to be the perfect prelude to a third act of smooth chord changes and reflective melodies that really hit the spot. 

Two all-star remixers round out the release with equally stunning takes on the lead piece 'Acacias' beginning with Petar Dundov. The Croatian artist is one of the most storied electronic music producers of the last 20 years, Petar’s music stretches sonic boundaries like almost no one else. His inimitable style is marked with timeless qualities and has long been a favourite of legendary DJs John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Sven Vath. Seemingly growing closer to the progressive house scene in recent years Petar now lands on Balkan Connection with a gorgeous rendition of 'Acacias'. The storyboard from the original has been reinvented and incredibly well conveyed which should prove quite engaging both from a listening and club perspective. Groovy and rhythmic in equal measure it builds with an effortless glide into a goosebump inducing finale with the mods intensifying and layers of blissful textures pushing the vibe higher. 

Rounding out the release is Arnas D who makes his Balkan Connection debut here. The Lithuanian producer has long been one of his country’s most beloved electronic music artists. His dynamic club grooves have found favor with many world-class DJs over the years, with Sasha and Nick Warren being two of his biggest supporters. It's been almost nine months since we last heard from Arnas, so this remix is certainly a welcome surprise for his fans and it does not disappoint. The tempo comes down for a slighter deeper vibe which complements the previous two versions quite nicely. Thick, chunky and full of rugged character the groove chugs along with a powerful, hip swinging sway. Indistinct vocals add an air of intrigue while exotic drums and timely drops make for a dynamic eight minute journey. Not sure where Arnas has been the last little while but this is a stunning remix so let's hope there is more new music on the way soon. It rounds out one of Balkan Connection's biggest releases ever, both on paper and for a seasoned ear. Highly recommended.

Australian progressive house icon Matt Rowan last appeared on Particles in early 2015. Around the same time, East Cafe released his first remix for the Proton flagship label. Over four years later, the two label stalwarts come full circle with “Heads Down.” Throughout its impressive ten-minute framework, the East Cafe remix synthesizes nostalgic and contemporary tones alike. The Hungarian certainly displays "a level of refinement, detail and depth” by drawing inspiration from the original’s timeless melodic lines.

From India we welcome Midnight Traffic, Gespona joins us from Spain and of course you can't release a quality progressive house EP nowadays with at least some input from Argentina, this time represented by Anhauser & Nicolas Leonelli and Ric Niels.

Through Golan Zocher & Eric Lune, Proton Music is delighted to showcase "North to South. Remixes come from outstanding Polish and Belarusian artists.

With impressive artistic pedigrees in their own rights, Golan Zocher & Eric Lune have individually found success with a host of impressive production credits to their name. Owner of the Bloom Records imprint, Zocher has seen his own music feature on the likes of JOOF, Perspectives Digital, and fellow countryman Juan Pablo Torrez's Clubsonica Records. Similarly, Eric Lune has been a staple on such celebrated imprints as 3rd Avenue, Juicebox Music and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank. Remixing GMJ's "Mystic Sea" for Proton in June 2020, Golan Zocher now joins forces with Eric Lune as the Colombian/Australian axis deliver a glorious, bouncing progressive house gem as a head-shaking bass groove and shaker-fuelled percussive top-line combine with harmonically detuned analogue chords and delicate keys that shimmer in rich delays. Building to a crescendo at the the mid-point breakdown, the track rises and falls with ease to dramatic effect. A beautifully crafted "Ambient Edit" adds an extra dimension as rhythmic elements are stripped away to reveal a glorious array of motifs and melodies that cascade and coruscate in counterpoint fashion to produce a wonderfully evocative edit.

Requiring very little in the way of introduction, Kobana bids a very welcome return to the label. A regular on the Proton Music roster, the Polish artist's ability to create unique and immaculately balanced material has seen a raft of releases centred around 2014's full-length album "The Riddle". The "Freefall" and "Boyhood" EPs in 2015 and 2016 continued an impressive catalogue of original material, while a 2018 remix of Dousk is now followed by a classic remix that revels in a sustained bassline sequence that is the perfect foundation for a glorious array of melodies to swirl and soar above in highly energised fashion. Building with ease and making immaculate use of Zocher & Lune's original components, the result is a dancefloor stormer that is propelled forward with thumping kick and off-beat percussion seeing Kobana make a stunning return to Proton Music.

Michael A is another Proton Music regular with a long and distinguished career with the label. Starting on Particles with his "Behind the Moon" and "Sapphire" EPs in 2014 and 2017, a clutch of originals saw "Bright Hope", "My Style", "Aura Tears", "Geometria" and "Twinkling Stars", light up the label between 2017 and 2020 with a distinctive and evolving melodic sound. Remixes for the likes of James Monro, Rauschhaus and James Warren are now accompanied by a stunning interpretation of "North to South". A smooth and silky use of the central melody from the Zocher & Lune original has created a Sasha-esque remix that is reminiscent of the legend's "Airdrawndagger" sound with its cascading and overlapping delays. A typically impressive rhythm section provides percussive power aplenty as counterpoint melodies and new distorted motifs add depth and range to a highly impressive offering.

From "North to South" Golan Zocher & Eric Lune have been joined by Kobana and Michael A on a true voyage of discovery.

Keeping the long history of introducing exciting (Dutch) talents to the scene alive, Manual Music welcomes Jelle van Leeuwen.

After a start in the Dutch rock circuit, Jelle now works at the Soundwise Studios in Amsterdam, where he is working together with big (pop) artists and for big TV productions during the day time. At night he's got time to explore his passion for electronic music.

'See The Glow' is his official debut release and includes three original productions, two of them featuring his own vocals. Give 'em a spin and be amazed!
