Valeria aka DĀNAE is an emerging DJ from Rome. Her sound has been influenced through numerous dance-floors, clubs, and festivals across Europe. In particularly, Berlin and in Rome, where  Goa Club played a prominent role in her musical growth. Her darker sounds with the introspective vision of harmonies range between minimal beats, electro, breaks. Her philosophy is to be completely free from any scheme and rules. Bside Incoming: Gallegos

We’re very pleased to present the latest instalment of the Bside Incoming series from Bristol based DJ, Producer, Record Collector, and ‘Room Service’ Label boss: Gallegos.

He’s plenty of experience behind the decks, as the founder and resident DJ of SHAPES in Bristol, where he’s warmed up for some of the very best in the business: Carl Craig, Omar S, Deetron and Move D. Since his debut release on Banoffee Pies in 2017, he’s maintained a steady stream of original and infectious dance records including his ‘B45’ EP which was featured by Chaos in the CBD for their essential mix. Gallegos now has an imprint of his own called ‘Room Service Recordings’, with his first release on the label providing a fitting conclusion to a Bside episode which explores the influences that brought him to where he is today.

Known for his dance music sets, but always unrestricted by genre, Gallegos is revered for his versatility and unpredictability. So, what a privilege to have excellent history of his broad musical influences, hip-hop, disco boogie, breaks and beats samples, Balearic, house and techno reminiscent of the Bristol rave scene, and an episode packed full of passion and nostalgia.

House Culture Mix 019: Gladis

This month’s edition of the House Culture Mix Series comes to you from Gladis.

Born and raised in Venice but now Ibiza-based, Gladis has always been passionate about electronic music and clubbing. These two passions lead her to pursue her musical career in 2009. Her travels and push to select destinations with cities that are home to the best clubs thus beginning her studies in Barcelona, London, Berlin and Ibiza where she experienced new realities, expanding her mind and creating a base for her musical training. 

Her sets are a mix of deep sounds, house and techno, perfect for her first residency at Tag Club Venice. During that time she shared the console with many international DJs, gaining more and more experience and defining her sound into the new boundaries of of avant-garde dance music. Regular guest at Tenax club Florence since 2018, she released her very first productions on Tenax Recordings and for the dutch vinyl only label Minimal Movement.

One of the many reasons I continue to do this Ancient Puzzle Arts podcast is to develop artistic relationships with people I would like to get to know better. For this month, it's a pleasure to introduce to you Philadelphia's own Keen.

I have been familiar with Keen's work because of the excellently curated Subsurface parties in Philadelphia, which he does alongside John Raffaele. I was further impressed to see Philly talent make it onto Boiler Room in 2019. But the part that sealed the deal for me was having Max Sprauer, a regular APA contributor, recommend him and say "you got to check him out!" With all these factors, it made perfect sense to get Keen on for the podcast series.

To say Keen's mix is entirely "minimal" is not accurate. There is a minimal tech house sensibility that drives the momentum of this mix, but he definitely explores elements of deep house and electro. When you listen to this mix, be sure to listen on a system with good sub bass to notice the subtlety of frequencies he's working with, and in a traditional techno techno sense, notice how he plays with layers upon layers of blends seamlessly.

Summer has almost officially started here on the East Coast of the United States, and this is an excellent way to kick things off! Enjoy!
