Inspired by the warm bassy soundsystem and the moomin-house itself, i decided to explore the trippy side of the house with a mix of swingy afro-house and tracks from old-school  heros like Delano Smith (who is currently fundraising for cancer treatment, link here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/delano-smith-rare-cancer-treatment-fundraiser )  Also revisiting Claptone’s 2012 release “Cream”, and mixing it with some new tracks from Giegling’s Map.ache. A few blast from the pasts with a deep Timo Maas remix of Moby’s Porcelain, and a recent tasteful remake of R.E.M’s Losing my religion. Last part of the set I got company behind the decks as my old b2b friend Bjornson came by for some action (AKA “Fathers with different lawyers”)… Also thanks Alex Esser for swinging by and putting on that epic Booka shade track… The last track - “2000 Freaks Come out” - was a tribute to Borderland, and especially Muumimaa, and it felt like the roof almost came back off the house… 😉 I had the most amazing time behind the decks seeing such vibrant energy on the dancefloor… thank you all for gifting such a vibrant dancefloor, and big thanks for the moomin-crew for gifting borderlands best sound and friendliest artist-hosting with a constant flow of good vibes and lovely drinks!

Mit unserer heutigen Nummer 114 präsentieren wir euch eine fantastische Afterhour vom Berliner DJ-Urgestein Madmotormiquel. 

Aufgewachsen ist Michi in den wilden 80er Jahren in West-Berlin. Ganz früh war für ihn klar --- Musik ist mein Ding. Beeinflusst von Punk-Rock und US Punk der späten 80er Jahre war ihm schnell klar das Musik-Genre-Grenzen nichts für ihn sind. Seine große Leidenschaft zum Hip-Hop ebnete dann auch den Weg zu den ersten elektronischen Produktionen.  Am Anfang mehr ein Party-DJ mit allen Genres die im so unterkamen, so entwickelte sich sein Stil im Laufe der Zeit mehr und mehr hin zum Techno und House. Erlebnisse wie seine erste Fusion Anfang 2000 entführten ihn dann endgültig in die wilde Party-Szene Berlins. Als Teil des Party-Kollektivs Bachstelzen veränderte er die Party-Szene Berlins mit aufwändigen Partys in Off-Locations nachhaltig. 

Seit 2006 fing er dann an seine eigenen Produktionen äußerst erfolgreich erst auf diversen Net-Labels zu veröffentlichen. Im Jahre 2010 folgte dann das erste Release zusammen mit Sebo und Nayan Soukie auf Sasse’s Label Mood Music.  Zusammen mit Sebo und Soukie&Windish gründete er dann 2010 das Label URSL-Records das sich schnell zum Aushängeschild des Berlin-Sounds entwickelte. 

Durch sein ganz spezielles Gefühl für den Dance-Floor ist Michi weltweit ein gefragter Mann hinter den Decks. Ob USA, Südamerika, Australien oder Afrika Burn … Michi ist da zu finden wo gute Partys entstehen, wie heute z.B. auf dem Feel-Festival ;-)

Auch gerade seine Podcasts haben es uns in den letzten Jahren sehr angetan. Den heutigen Podcast für Afterhour Sounds schickte er uns mit den Worten „istn bisschen länger und spezieller geworden“ was wir nur unterstreichen können … er läuft hier seit Tagen in der Dauerschleife. Michi vielen lieben Dank für deine Liebe zur Musik und dieses 2stündige Meisterwerk. Aber nun genug der Worte … liebe Hörer freut euch mit uns zusammen auf 2 Stunden Madmotormiquel in Reinform.

Here it is. 
I arrived to Garbicz late on Thursday having lost my luggage (but not my music!) and quickly got ready to play a few hours later. By 4am I had found the Hedoné dome (Sagrada Feminina) and my heart started racing knowing full well I was back at Garbicz and about to gift all these dancing barefoot souls a sunrise full of love and flavor. 

Took me a bit to get going, adjusting to the energy on the dance floor but once that sunrise came, cumbia oozed out and your love and dancing kept me going a little bit more <3 

Thank you @hedone-berlin for building this beautiful dome full of love and laughs. Forever thankful for this opportunity at a place that for 5 years now has been my favorite musical gathering far and away.

After a long summer filled with music, open airs and different gatherings, this was my last festival of this very special season. 

It was my 3rd year at Ponyhof, in the wonderful Schloss Schönow, and I am so grateful that I was invited again this year. 
Due to the pandemic, we were gathering only outside in the garden and the whole program had to be adapted. I was playing the sunset slot on Friday evening, after we all reunited in the garden and shared a potluck with friends I haven't seen for a while. This was just perfect <3

Because of the timing, I could start my set with softer tunes to accompany the dusk, and slowly get into groovy and more dancefloor oriented sounds while entering the night. 

This set contains a lot of tracks I carried with me this whole summer. 

I Hope you enjoy it !
