Mansur Brown - 03 Flight

Hakuna Kulala is excited to share with you this compilation of works and collaborations, result of a 2 year residency program titled "Afropollination" between artists from Mali, RDC, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, Tanzania and artists based in Germany, many of whom from African descent. The aim of this project was to create cross pollination effect between different artists, cultures and disciplines, fostering community, friendships, collaboration and inspiration and of course new music and art. As works continue to develop, here is a first compilation of works produced by the artists in residency.

AFROPOLLINATION is an initiative by Piranha Arts and Boutique Foundation / NYEGE NYEGE in collaboration with MS Stubnitz , Singeli Movement , Modaperf , Yoke Collective , COSMO Radio, Pussy Party, Morphine Studios, Festsaal Kreuzberg , CTM Festival and funded by the Fonds TURN2 of the Federal Cultural Foundation of Germany (Kulturstiftung des Bundes).

This episode is all about crashing out, that is, according to google: going insane or doing something stupid, often impulsively and with little regard for consequences. It can also refer to a sudden, uncontrollable emotional outburst or a reckless act that carries significant negative repercussions. So there you have it, I tried to convey this state at a time when I was experiencing all the emotions that come along with it.

The rising 23-year-old Brixton artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer's three-track project is an instrumental, beat-heavy search for zen and overcoming obstacles, both of the world and trials that are deeply personal. 

From Mansur:
“The name of the EP is Tesuto, which means Test in Japanese, which is representative of life and the struggles everyone universally goes through and looking at these obstacles and challenges as tests. The idea that no one is given an obstacle that they cannot overcome whether its a struggle that plagues a community or someone individually. This EP is my testament to God.”
