As a black queer woman, and artist based in NYC, who was raised in the small towns of Natchez, Mississippi and Dayton, Ohio to a military family. My musical influences spans genres but is always black. And this  mix continues to showcase my growth as I heal, love, hate and learn to accept the powerful black woman that stands before me everyday.

LOOKIN ASS NIGGA (FLASH.WRLDWIDE REMIX)

On the 14th of March 2024 the Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel aka Adidja Palmer,conviction for the murder of an associate more than a decade ago was quashed, with a London court ruling that attempts to bribe the trial jury meant the conviction was unsafe.

Kartel, 48, has been in jail in Jamaica since 2011 over the disappearance of his associate Clive “Lizard” Williams, whose body has never been found.
After a 65-day trial, one of the longest in Jamaican history, Kartel and three others were convicted in 2014. Kartel was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 35 years, later reduced on appeal to 32 and a half.

Kartel is known across the Black Global diaspora and even during his time imprisoned still released chart topping music as well as collaborating with a slew of black artists around the world to create hits. 

It is interesting to note that the highest court in Jamacia is the Privy council based in London this just reflects the current colonial present and past we dwell in. 

This Mix is to celebrate and commemorate this milestone x
