In Hour 2 we hand over to Indian Wells, the producer Pietro Iannuzzi from southern Italy, who's releasing his third album ‘Where The World Ends’ via LA based Friends Of Friends on 8th September 2017. This follows two albums on Bad Panda and remixes for Ghostly International, Anjunadeep, Terrible Records, Bastard Jazz, Sekuoia and Populous. Music on offer includes Holly Hendon, Nathan Fake, Nosaj Thing, Bicep, Four Tet and Olafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm. Indeed, many great performances have been recorded, and we are glad to have them. But I think the greatest performances always elude, the camera, the tape recorder, the pen. They happen in the middle of the night when the musician plays for one special friend under the moonlight, they happen in the dress rehearsal just before the play opens. The fact that improvisation vanishes makes us appreciate that every moment of life is unique - a kiss, a sunset, a dance , a joke. None will ever recur in quite the same way. This very unique trio of music, souls and minds, is Eduardo Castillo's new LIVE project. Eager to expand and build on his musical reach and scope, Eduardo, has brought these very talented friends and multi instrumental musicians together to explore the potential of each of their own immense talents, only to realize, when playing and listening as an ensemble, a very powerful force came alive. The good son always comes back. But this time our dear Arutani brings together a collaborative digital extended play in the company of his beloved friends Dandara & Manuel Wassmer (Mawa). Titled as “Sunev”, the 4-track EP arises from the continuing friendship of these three, enhancing efforts and sharing their love with music on the Swiss collective LOKD. Underlining an open-minded approach, it contains two original tracks and two remixes. Arutani featured Dandara in the shining ‘Iridescent’ while Mawa remixed it. On the other hand, Sr. Wassmer shaped “Sunev” while Arutani remixed it. 

The collaboration took inspiration from the forgotten, mysterious planet of Venus – the dawn star, our closest planetary neighbor. It has no rings, no moons and spins slowly in the opposite direction from most planets. Put in symbolical terms, Venus the planet as well as the goddess and all her consorts, visages harbor attributes which are representing our ability to relate, the need to be desired and loved, the joy and the color of spring, the renewal of vegetation and life, the inebriation of the senses, to share emotions. 

Bearing this in mind and noticing that this EP relying upon their articulated desire to work closely together, the concept crosses further into a whirlwind of thoughts, feelings and emotions. And it reveals a subtlety only seems to be based on love, companionship, wholeheartedness and eagerness. Somehow, it fits as a soundtrack for a spatial odyssey (inner or outer), several sonic textures blended in with a hidden glitch melancholy, 

Iridescent came from an evening when Dandara was playing interesting melodies with his guitar, it ended up with Arutani following up, adding wistful chords and a immersed baseline. The final result evolve into something unexpected, to listen to when you feel in love with something or someone. Mawa did his homework remixing Iridescent with a reddish oblique love filter. However, in his original track “Sunev”, Mawa seems to explore a new directive, going through a slightly portentous moody aural, in order to celebrate the way in which female energy is crucial to the balance and consciousness of the collective, the track is set as a tribute. Glimpses below the clouds reveal volcano-beats on Arutani’s remix. 

After listening to this emotionally resonant EP, we hope you can fell these three were able to craft engaging tracks that evoke effective core elements of their musical aesthetics, suffused with an organic warmth. Reminding us why love is the driver for all great stories: not just romantic love, but the love for family, for universe, for what enraptured our hearts. We are the light that travels into space.

At the beginning of last year I went to listen and see Isolée during his live act in Lausanne. He started that night with a really amazing tune - something so full of love and harmony, something that is definitely rare at the moment.

One week later that song was still in my mind and so I asked Rajko what it was, to which he answered: "I did a soundtrack for a skateboard movie and the track I started my live set with is a draft of it." I asked him to make me an edit to be played in my set. I’ve been playing "Dennis" for the past year in all my sets around the world and always receive a fantastic reaction from the smiling crowd.

One year later this special song called "Dennis" is ready to be played by you and the world and I'm really proud and excited to start "Xtra Tamed" with such a masterpiece! I asked one of my best friends and one of the most talented producers around, Baïkal (from Maeve and Innervisions), to work on the remix and trust me when I say that this rework has a similarly funny but long story as the original cut! Isolée vs Baikal sounds like a match made in heaven, don't ya think?

Maybe one day I'll release a book about all these genius making-of stories but for now, it’s all about the music and emotions. The mastering was carefully done by Hans at Deinklang. You can also check out the skate video mentioned above here: http://rollenaller.de/#
