Single released February 10. It’s off the album, DobroSinger, due out May 13. The single gently waltzes into Valentine’s Day with sentiments of lovers’ romantic embrace.

She recorded this song late at night in her tiny home studio, all alone. The Beard Deca-Phonic resonator guitar romances with a woody, grounded dobro sound. The lyric, “leave the flowers in the dirt, leave the cork in the wine,” goes against traditional romantic gestures and towards something more meaningful. She says, “I’m releasing this song close to Valentine’s Day to remind people that they don’t need flowers and cards and chocolate to feel romantic. I love thinking of a couple playing the song and swaying barefoot in the kitchen together.”

05 Three Quarter Time

I wrote the song a few years back at the tail end of a period of personal upheaval. The Lyric endeavors to capture two singular moments in time for the characters of the song as they sit on the roof of an apartment building looking off into the night in which the “lights looked like Paris.” The second happens on a summer night on an island with a view of the mainland as “the fire on the beach kept us warm.” In those moments the narrator does not want to break the spell of their newfound connection. He simply finds comfort in the metaphor that there is nowhere else that he’d rather be as they wait on a brand new day. The music is meant to have the galloping feeling of new love and the excitement of changing times. The whole thing just about wrote itself.

Waiting On A Brand New Day

Okay so the "road" is not all champagne and caviar. Friendships are tested when you stay at shady motels and suffer through long drives. Plus, we needed to balance out the sweetness of that first song with a little humor. So here is "I've Had Enough," the funny side to a friendship built on the road. Don't get mad at Marc for the line about wearing makeup - Abbie actually wrote that line! Someday we'll share the lyrics that cracked us up while writing this song but were not fit for recording!
