Throughout his involvement in the heavily revered Skull Disco imprint and the birth of his own Apple Pips label, Laurie ‘Appleblim’ Osborne always seemed to represent his own thing to the fullest. It’s what’s always made him stand out as a character, as a producer and as a DJ – the fact that he simply does things that please him. So when he offered to make us a mixtape ahead of his appearance at the Roska Presents hosted Room One this Friday night, it’s safe to say we were pretty expectant. But what he did was use it as an opportunity to blend together a selection of records he purchased on a recent trip Stateside where he visited The Thing record store in Greenpoint Brooklyn.

I am thrilled to present a guest mix this month from Ice Cream resident and all round legend Hayelybabes. Listening to this mix you would never in your wildest dreams believe that she has only been spinning tunes for just a couple of years! She programmes this mix so well really nailing the Balearic brief…and to top it all off she put the mix together while heavily pregnant with her beautiful baby daughter Margo who is now just 3 weeks old! The People In The Fog is a moniker of DJ Sodeyama. He has been a stalwart of the Tokyo underground for nearly three decades, cutting his teeth in the 90's and retaining a key presence at the forefront of Japan's house music scene.

Over the years he has released a sprawling array of music under a few monikers on the likes of Zenit, Rekids, Quartz and трип. However most recently he has been operating under the guise of The People In The Fog which has afforded him the chance to dig deeper into his sound channeling elements of funk, downtempo and the dubbier undertones of house.

He has released this material on Japanese record label Sound Of Vast and for dj's in the know those records have become a 'buy on sight' scenario.

This mix showcases versatility and class. Tight blends, excellent, deep thoughtful selections.

John Braine is an Irish DJ and producer who’s been part of the UK and Irish underground electronic scene since the ’90s. Recently, he’s been recording, performing, and creating visual art under the name Trontsephore. His music has appeared on labels such as Headspace, Emoticon, Scart, Psychonavigation, and Front End Synthetics.
His track Shmegly received amazing feedback from Andrew Weatherall on its release, and Carl Cox played the Funk D’Void remix of Trontsephora to hundreds of thousands of ravers at the 1998 Love Parade.
John has a broad range of musical tastes, with a particular love for deep, dubby, and trippy sounds that sit somewhere between electro, breaks, and electronica — whether it’s peak dancefloor vibes or slower, immersive headfeed for an open-minded Sunday morning radio show.
He is also one-third of @Pint Window Productions, the crew that brings ALFOS to Dublin every year, among other events.
