The new single ‘You and I’ is the first release of 2022 by UK-based songwriter and producer Marc Matthews, via Retro Reverb Records, and precedes a debut EP release in spring 2022. The song ‘You and I’ is a modern synthpop song that retains the warmth and vibe of classic 80s synth ballads, coupled with modern pop vocals and production. ‘You and I’ is a synthpop ballad with a dark edge that shines a light on the theme of control within a relationship and the loss and void left by it. ‘You and I’ is for fans of modern synthpop production with a dark twist and acts such as Nina, Haim, Halsey, and Wolf Alice.

This is a synthpop interpretation of the classic Darlene Love Christmas song Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) as featured on the classic A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector, Christmas album. 

It features the vocal talents of Camila Bearzi and the guitar of the brilliant Sleepless Nights. What started out as a bit of fun, quickly transpired into a synthpop, meets 90s trance, meets 90s pop vocal, and is a bit of fun to get you into the Christmas spirit. Merry Synthmas!

Around 3 years old the very first music group that got me thinking about how music was made was Kraftwerk. Sitting on my parents bed with my dad blasting Kraftwerk's The Mix CD while looking at the cover art.

Over 2 decades later I have never forgotten that moment. With over a decade of experience learning music production through much trial and error I have finally gotten to the point where I can make a Kraftwerk like song using mostly analog gear. It has been a long journey getting to where I am now with music. It has never been this much fun :]
