These Blues Of Mine

Aphelion is, in our geocentric view, the moment in orbit when the sun is farthest away from us. For one panicked instant, the two bodies threaten to tear apart, only to careen back toward one another, again and again. This album represents that moment of despair and the moments following loss as we try to regain our balance on an unsteady planet.

This album was conceived in 2022 and began its recording process in spring of 2023, just seconds before the loss of an immensely important friend. Most of the songs were already written, but the themes and lyrics were essential to my personal healing process. Despite the grief, playing music, singing, and recording felt like the only answer to my heart's mournful cry. 

Each song deals with varying degrees of grief: the crushing of dreams, the end of relationships, the loss of strangers, the loss of friends, seasonal depression, and more. However, as the album progresses, the underlying mantra is acceptance of the unknown and figuring out how to love life and the planet we live on, even when the sun seems far, far away.

Sisters & Brothers

A journey of inner turmoil and existential questioning, this emotive song performed on a 12-string acoustic guitar captures a poignant struggle with feelings of betrayal and regret. It charts a path towards darkness while seeking peace and closure. The music evokes a haunting and contemplative atmosphere, delving deeply into profound emotions and exploring the complexities of human existence.
